M-

I have to agree....HSG is a great way to tell what the interior of the uterus

looks like, but it cannot be used to differientiate between UD or BU and SU. It

just can't tell the difference between vascular uterine tissue and

avascular/fiborous septum. A careful MRI (it has to be done correctly, or its

not worth the film its printed on) can be used to determine true diagnosis as

well as the gold-standard lap/hyst.

Most of us have had HSG and alot of docs 'think' that they are a useful

diagnostic tool for MA's, but while they will provide a good picture of the

interior uterine cavity and fallopian tubes, they can't show the fundus (the

funal contour can be very important in MA dx) nor can they reveal what the

dividing tissue is composed of.

Hope that helps some-

M.,

I just wanted to weigh in really quickly on my 2 cents as well.

HSG is not a good predictor of a specific MA. I had 2 of them, and

the docs thought both times that I was BU.

MRI's CAN be a good determinate of MA; however, in my experience,

they were NOT!!! I had 2 MRI's, because the first one was not clear

enough. My RE had doubts about the second one, although it looked

like I was BU. Getting these ended up wasting a lot of time and

showing basically nothing.

I had the lap/hyst last week, and guess what? I was SU!!!

My advise? If you REALLY want to be SURE, do the lap/hyst!!!!
