I never considered a Vitamix. Instead I have a food processor and an

Omega Juicer which also is useful for making frozen desserts,

confections and pate.

There are a couple people on the list that have one. I gave mine away because I didn't like how it seemed to heat things up with just the heat from the engine. Maybe they make them different now, this was about 20 years ago. Katy

I have a Vitamix (purchased from Costco

last year at a great price) and I use it almost every day.

I make smoothies for the family every day.

I have found that the consistency that you get with sauces and dressing is FAR

better than with my Cuisinart food processor (which I also use almost every

day). Additionally, it grinds almonds and pecans much more finely than the

Cuisinart. I have not make soup in it but can see its advantages over the food

processor on that front as well. Sometimes the Cuisinart can leak if there is

not enough viscosity and it definitely can’t with the Vitamix.

I have two. First one bought new, second one found in thrift store with the dry cannister for grinding dry stuff. I like them a lot, and as for cleaning, all you do is put hot water and a >little< dish liquid and whizz it until clean, then rinse.

Hi Sandy.

If you still have your vitamix, try this.

Fill about half full with really hot water, add some dishwasher

detergent, whizz a couple minutes, and let sit overnight. Whizz again,

and check to see if its clean.

You might also try soaking with vinegar/water.

And the last ditch effort would be 3 or 4 effer-dent tablets in some

hot water.

I really was flummoxed by what you described, its never happened to me.

I hope you can save it, (if you still have it, that is.)

didn't feel it got the spicket cleaned good. If it was a while before

I used it again I would find black mold type stuff in my foods

prepared with it. This was especially if the food item first prepared

in the vitamixer was firm/not liquide.
