Hi ,

I have several thoughts.

1. Candida: First off, usually warns about checking for Candida.

Apparently if you have it, it may keep you from feeling the full effects of

LDN.

2. DLP: DL-Phenylalanine is great for helping to prolong the effects of LDN

throughout the day. It is good for depression, pain and energy. You can

buy it at the health food or vitamin store. The best to take is Solaray

brand, 500mg. One in the morning on an empty stomach, then one in the

afternoon on an empty stomach.

3. Diet: If during the day you are feeling badly, take a look at what you

are eating and the effect it may possibly be having. Many MS patients seem

to do better on one of the MS diets. My husband stopped eating any

processed food, dairy, or glutens (wheat). The best bet diet, the Swank

diet & the Gold Coast Cure all have different variations, but I think they

all say don't eat processed foods. Make sure you do not have diet drinks or

foods with aspartame.

4. Fillers: It sounds like you are looking into this possibility already.

5. Supplements: There are several good lists of supplements for those with

MS. If you have not already received some of them, let me know and I will

forward them to you.

6. LDN dosage: Play around with your dosage, but just make sure to give

each amount a fair chance to work (unless you have unbearable side effects).

Please keep us informed on how you are doing. We are all there with you,

hoping you have excellent success.

Kindest of regards

Aletha

For those of us who do not do well on DL-Phenylalanine, l-Tryosine is an option.

,I had similar problems during my first week on LDN.  I started with 3 MG.  I had nausea a couple times that week, and I had a funny feeling in my legs that was always worse in the morning.  I'd wake up and limp to the shower.  As the day progressed it would slowly go away.  Then when I woke up the very next morning it would be there again.  Sometimes worse.  This is my 2nd week on LDN.  The funny feeling in my legs is completely gone, and I haven't had a bout of nausea in a while.  I use Avicel filler as well.  Now I pretty much feel the same as I did before I started LDN.  It might take a week or so for your body to get used to 3 MG.  Good luck. All The Best, [low dose naltrexone] Re: Update from Calgary Good Morning, I started my 1.5 mg of LDN for 6 nights, last night Imoved my dosage up to 3.0 mg. slept great no side effects except forfeeling very good almost like my ms symptoms had gone away.  Thisfeeling slowly fades the closer I get to getting up in the morning. Hi , It takes a Good Full 2-6 Months to feel the Full Effects of the LDN even though you may feel thing's in between..... Here is the Introductory Side Effects of LDN - Introductory Side-effects: There may

be some initial transient, though temporary, increase in MS symptoms during the adaptive period when the LDN is first introduced. This usually lasts no more than one week but if symptoms are severe, or more prolonged, then the initial dose of 3 mg may be reduced to 2 mg until the anticipated improvements begin to develop. Introductory symptoms, on starting this treatment, may include such as disturbed sleep, occasionally with vivid, bizarre and disturbing dreams, tiredness,

fatigue, spasm and pain. Symptoms related to increased endorphins: These may include such as nausea or constipation. These symptoms diminish naturally as the body adjusts to the increased endorphin level. Symptoms related to previous Opiate use: On starting LDN the recent use of opiate analgesics will result in an opiate withdrawal syndrome, with increased pain, spasm, vomiting and diarrhea. These symptoms may be prevented by stopping all opiate analgesics at least two weeks before starting the LDN.

Symptoms related to the use of Lactose filler: If lactose filler is used in the capsules some individuals may be sensitive to this sugar and, usually after a few weeks of treatment, will develop diffuse but persistent muscle or joint pain. This may be avoided by using alternative fillers, such as calcium

carbonate. Hope this helps....... Always A Friend, Crystal Jay & Beth Vaccaro <jaynbeth@...> wrote: , I had similar problems during my first week on LDN. I started with 3 MG. Thanks MJH,

That is great to know. Do you have any further info on l-Tryosine? I would like to save the info to share with others. Where can it be purchased, and what exactly is it?

I'm so glad you wrote this. Do you have MS. I do. I was diagnosed 13 years ago and was doing very well until 3/05. Since then I have gone downhill. I had an MRI the end of April and have 3 new lesions from my last MRI. Mostly things that bother me are walking ( I don't bend my right leg when I walk) and overactive bladder. I saw new neuro last week and he thought I would benefit wrom a baclofen pump. I have found LDN and don't think I should try both. As of today I have made my mind up to start LDN amd skip the pump. Your e-mail came at the right time. What do you think? I am glad you are doing so well.

-- [low dose naltrexone] Update from Calgary

Hi everyone, I'm going on 3 weeks at 3mg. and have noticed my fatigue is gone. We just had 2 days of hot weather and I was able to go shopping (with the help of a shopping cart) through Costco, Home Depot and Walmart all within a 3 hour window. It seems the more I walked the easier it got. I couldn't have done this prior to taking LDN I just didn't have the energy. I've also noticed bathroom visits have decreased. I'm still very pleased with starting LDN and I am curious as to what will happen when I increase to 4.5mg. because 3mg. has already been very beneficial. I'm still feeling achy with sore muscles so I take Advil every 4 hours and it seems to take the edge off. I'm urging and encouraging everyone to stay on the band wagon with their updates and keep this LDN train going because knowledge is power and we could all use a little of that. I've met a wonderful couple in Calgary through 's LDN Forum who helped make our world a little smaller. We all have to share information, it helps one another so much. Have a great weekend.

-Hi ,

I'm sorry to hear your symptoms got worse. I'm not sure what a

baclofen pump is,(just thought it was a pill), but if I were you I

would check with this group and your compounding pharmacy and doctor

because I think you can take both LDN and Baclofen together without

any side effects. I'm not a doctor so please don't quote me without

checking first. I've had RRMS for 6 years (maybe longer but was dx

6 yrs. ago) Your walking problem is the same problem I struggle with

except my left leg doesn't bend. I'm very hopeful about LDN and

personally feel confident in my decision to try it. I've only been

on it for 3 weeks and have noticed improvements in my fatigue and

bathroom visits have decreased so I know its doing something for me

which is very encouraging. Keep this group updated as to how things

go.

Hi ,

I too was curious about 4.5. I have been on 3.0 for a month now started

with 1.5 for 2 weeks prior to that. Than one night, 5 days ago I took 3

pills instead of two, the next day was the best day that I had ! So the next

night I took 2 pills and the following day was ok but not like the day

before. SO since that, I have been rotating from 4.5 to 3.0 ( my script only

was for 60, 1.5 capsules per month ) but I noticed I feel way better after

the 4.5 nights. I have rrms that only interferes with cramping in my right

calf and rt toes that make me kind of drag my rt leg. On the 4.5 days I

hardly get any cramps (day or night). I am very happy with LDN, I have seen

noticeably improvement after 2 months, than the 2 years on copaxone( which I

am taking along with the LDN) Best to everyone< nn----- Original

Hi , Congratulations!!!! Happy to hear that LDN is working so good with you too. I started on 3 mg Sept 3rd, 2005 and stayed on that for 5 months to get my body use to it then I went up to the 4.5 mg. The only thing that happened to me was the first week or two I had trouble sleeping and was having wierd dreams but it went away within a week. The dreams just mean that the LDN is working. After those two things went away I'm doing great now. Always A Friend, Crystal helpforms <ndoyle1@...> wrote: Hi everyone, I'm going on 3 weeks at 3mg. and have noticed my fatigue is gone.
