There was some conversation last week bout Irmat Pharmacy and filler. Annette, I think you said you were told that they always use avicil (spelling?). Out of curiousity, I called and found out that my prescription is filled with lactose.

lactose intolerant.

Skip is the one who uses Avicel only.

When I started LDN last month Irmat filled my prescription with

avicil as the filler and I had unbearable stomach pains (felt like a

bleeding ulcer)and naseau. When I called the pharmacist at Irmat she

told me that the avicil did not cause those problems.

So, not wanting to discontinue the LDN, I e-mailed Skip for his

opinion and he told me that he would not have thought that the avicil

could cause that problem but oddly enough he had heard from another

Irmat customer just days before who had the exact complaint. He

suggested I try Lactose instead. I did, and now I am just fine. In

a few weeks I will step up to 4.5 from 3.0, with lactose.

So, if your stomach is hurting or you are naseous, it could be the

avicil.

I use Irmat Pharmacy in NYC and they mail my prescription to me each month. They are on the list of preferred pharmacies and they use acidophilus as my filler since avicel and lactose did not agree with my stomach. I can definitely recommend them.

I just cant imagine anyone here telling anyone else that unless they get their

LDN from Skip`s, it would fail! Who on earth would say that?

I think people should use the recommended pharmacies and if you are in the US

theres no reason at all it wont be mailed to you, which ever state you live in.

Many people prefer Skip`s as they make more than any other pharmacy in the US,

are very knowlegable and helpful, and are competative in price PLUS Dr.Skip has

spoken at all of the annual conferences, always giving his time and point of

view.

I asked my pharmacist before I even had my prescription how he compounded ldn for others and his answers were spot on.  He owns Carolina Compounding Pharmacy and charges $35 for a months supply, whatever the dosage (plus shipping, of course).

year LDN success, my mom a 6 year success and my grandma a 5 year success all

from the same Pharmacy, Cantrell Drug in Little Rock, Arkansas. My compounding

pharmacy is not on the LDN website pharmacy list but when I asked this pharmacy

about making my LDN they went to the LDN website a http://www.ldninfo.org and

read the site and read how they should prepare it.

My friend who owns Carolina Compounding Pharmacy in Cary, NC told me how he makes and and why he makes it the way he does and he was spot on with everything I have read on these sites and the low dose naltrexone site.  I think his price is reasonable at $35 for a 30 month supply plus shipping.  There is a much bigger compounding pharmacy across town that, literally, charges twice as much.

My local pharmacy charges $75 for a one month supply.By the way, I did not believe only LDN from Skip's would work, but I was told that and thatstudies had shown LDN had failed only in cases where it wasn't from Skip's and not taken at bedtime. That was quite some time ago on a different group. I didn't believe it. But I don't trust the local pharmacy at those rip-off prices.Anyway, I found liquid works best for me and taking it in the morning. Every once in a while I take it at bedtime to see if it works better. After over two years on LDN it still keeps me awake all night after two hours sleep. I just can't do that for more than one night at a time.J

With 250 miles of my area of Northern MN I know of at least 3 pharmacies that know how to compound LDN properly. And I am guessing there are more. One in my town just started. Skip and his team have been generous in sharing his know how of compounding LDN. I am finding compounding pharmacists have "groups" similar to this one where information is shared. The more prescriptions they fill the less they charge it seems. I am getting mine from a pharmacy in LaCrosse, WI. If anyone wants that info I am happy to share it. This particular pharmacist, Wayne, used to be on Bahari's list and then his company name was there no longer. When he inquired as to why he was dropped he was told someone had complained to them, however never to him in person, so he has no idea why it happened and does not have any access to find out why (patient protection). He was guess

ing it was because one or two people felt LDN didn't work for them, so they complained. I am finding Wayne to be a great resource and very knowledgeable. They mail many prescriptions to many people throughout the US and maybe elsewhere. One of the things he said, some people need to be on LDN for 6 months before they notice an appreciable improvement. Over the years he has seen many people who's illnesses improve greatly ... meaning it not only stops symptoms, but reverses them, including cancers. My last prescription for 90 days of 3 mg LDN was $74.75. He charges only a nominal fee of around $2.00 for mailing. There is a Holistic doc in LaCrosse, WI, listed on the LDNscience list that does not hesitate to prescribe LDN when he thinks it will help a patient. He uses the above pharmacy. He used to prescribe LDN over the phone, but no longer does so when he became in danger of losing his

license. He also practices allopathic medicine as he is an emergency room doctor.

Bottom line, another perspective: There are more and more available reputable compounding pharmacies that compound LDN. Sometimes I prefer to help the local economy and support those in my area ... and this will increase the exposure to more and more people who could benefit from LDN. Especially, if a physician is hesitant to prescribe LDN ... knowing it is available locally physicians may be more open to respond to their patient who comes in with info regarding LDN. Pharmacists play a role in educating docs too. That networking is important too.
