Guest guest
Since I've never been as far along as you, I can't comment as to whether your pains are normal or not. But I just wanted to send some encouragement and (((hugs))) your way. Tina 31, 2 m/c, BU or SU
Guest guest
, This is almost certainly nothing; I had exactly that same kind of pain!! One of the stinkier things about being pregnant, especially when you have *other* things to worry about (like a funky uterus), is that you don't know what's normal and what's not. When I look back at the notes from my first pregnany, it seems like I was calling the doctor every other day - is this normal? this hurts - what could it be? Of course, it is their job to reassure you, and you should always call if you have questions, but it sounds to me as if you are having very normal growing uterus pains, along with ligaments stretching, etc. Isn't feeling the baby move just incredible?? You have a tiny miracle growing inside you. It blows the mind! Take heart, I've had two very paranoid pregnancies. I know how you feel! Guest guest
> Hi all, > So I'm about 16.5 weeks pregnant Congratulations, ! >and the last .. oh, > two days or so .. I've just started having a whole > variety of pains. This one: Like someone with cactus > prickles on her fingers is poking my cervix-- that one > is really bugging me. Then there's another pain at the > top of my belly near my belly button, oddly on the > left and right side (baby is in my right side), also > sort-of a pokey pain that just lasts 3 or 4 seconds. > They don't *feel* like contractions to me... no > tightness or anything, just POKEY. I have a right UU and had some similar pains right about the same time as you. I was terrified my cervix was opening. I got checked the next day and the dr reassured me the cervix was long and closed, scheduled an US for a couple days later to actually have it measured for me, and then explained that around this time frame, the uterus actually turns or rotates. So, pains around this time are generally attributed to that. However, it's never a bad idea to get checked out. >(I have also had > what I assume is ligament pain, a sort-of stretchy > feeling out towards my hips and around to where that > ligament attaches to the back. That one is irritating > but doesnt' scare me.) > I remember those, too. It's nice to sometimes feel like something in there is normal! LOL > In better news, I really really think I'm feeling some > movement- it is such an odd fluttery feeling, it takes > my breath away every time I feel it... just from sheer > amazement. > Yay! Isn't that the best feeling? I still catch myself with a goofy grin on my face when the baby is making his presence especially known. Congratulations! Guest guest
Hi , Don't worry about the paranoia - I have definitely had my share of panicked moments. I have experienced in the 2nd trimester the following: a sensation of pressure and heaviness down low, a feeling of pain in my cervix with every step (that lasted for about a week and really freaked me out), shooting pains in the vaginal /cervix region, and ligament pain, most noticeable when I cough or get up too quickly. I have had a couple of braxton hicks contractions (only after sex, though, and never at any other time yet) and there is a definite distinction - a BH contraction is a tightening and hardening of the uterus at the lowest point of your belly. I have also had those pokey sensations you mentioned - at first I thought it was the baby, but now that I feel him kicking I realize it was probably ligament pain (the baby's kicking only happens at in the evenings, middle of the night, and early morning when I am relaxing - I am busy enough during the day that he gets a lot of sleep, I think! - so I am able to distinguish the movement from other feelings now) My OB assures me that all of this is normal - when I was 16 weeks, the baby was low, putting pressure on the cervix; also, the uterus really goes through a growth spurt at this that stage. I also reassure myself by drinking a lot of water, and making sure that when I have to pee, I GO - dehydration and a full bladder can cause BH contractions. Not to worry - you are most likely just fine, but never be afraid to call your doctor. Guest guest
>One more question (to anyone who knows): I know at >some point the uterus moves up and takes pressure off >the cervix. About what week does that happen? > For me, it was about 19-20 weeks, I think? At that point, it was also quite noticeable in the way I was showing, the baby looked higher. Between 16-20 weeks has been the most paranoid for me so far. Now I just get the occasional fears of pre-term labour (so far, unfounded fears). It'll be nice to look back on all of this in the future, won't it? ;0 SU resected, bicoollis, 24w4d _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 3 months FREE*. http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail & xAPID=42 & PS=47575 & PI=7324 & DI=7474 & SU\ = http://www.hotmail.msn.com/cgi-bin/getmsg & HL=1216hotmailtaglines_smartspamprotec\ tion_3mf
