Vicki Hi OSSGers, Some of you may remember me, I'm a Manfred and I'm writing a book on WLS with Dr. Louis Flancbaum of St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital. Well, the book is just about finished and I want to add a chapter about the experiences (good and bad) of 5 year plus post-ops. I'd really appreciate referrals to people you know who had surgery that long ago, with email addys or phone #s, or pass along my email and phone # to them. If people want to write that would be great. But I will call and do interviews also. Please also pass along these questions: 1. Your name, age, profession, married or single, kids? 2. Your weight history. Were you a fat kid? When did you gain your weight? How many diets have you been on approximately? (You don't have to mention each one) How much did you weigh at the time of surgery? 3. Why did you decide to have wls? What were your co-morbidities? How did being obese impact your life? How did it inhibit or hinder you? 4. When did you have surgery? How much did you lose? How fast? 5. Did you have any complications such as nutritional deficiciencies or ulcers? How were they treated? 6. How has your life changed since wls? 7. Have you regained any weight since surgery? If so, what have you done about it? 8. What is your eating like now? What foods do you eat? Are you hungry a lot? Can you eat everything or are you restricted? Do you eat three meals a day or snack a lot? Do you dump or vomit? How often? 9. What kind of supplements do you take? 10. How much and how often do you exercise? 11. Would you do it again? Would you recommend it to others? Thanks so much for helping. a Manfred aMay@... co-author: The Doctor's Guide to Weight Loss Surgery; Everything You Need to Know About Gastric Bypass and Other Weight Loss Operations.
