Hi I just wanted to let you know that loves water and I still

give it to

him despite Dr. H. recommendations. We all need water and I know it doesn't

have

calories but oh well !!! Sometimes milk does not quench thirst.

Besides its not like he drinks 8 oz. of it.

Inga,

How is you son doing these days? Does he take ny medication or have the

gtube. I dont recall ever hearing anything but I think you are very

informative to

the list and if there isnt anything else to read you usually have something

sent to

the list. Hope all is going well and good luck with the potty training!

Tim was in the hospital for dehydration during a bout with gastrointestinal

illness last month, and we had some pretty good discussions with

gastroenterologists there who would like to do some more liver enzymes tests

over a period of time (which have been elevated at various times when they

where tested, but not always...) as well as an ultrasound of his liver and

perhaps inrtestines, and maybe later a biopsy of his liver. A nutritionist

outside the hospital suggested the possibility of diabetes, but he tested OK

for this. Now my husband is just getting over a sore throat, so I'm still

hesitating on getting the other tests started, since fighting colds can have

a big effect on these. It's hard to know when to do it, but hopefully

taking various tests over a course of time will help. I want to stay

non-invasive as much as possible, since he is still only around 15 pounds

and not that safe for unnecessary anesthesia. Also, I have heard elevated

liver enzymes are soooo common.

Inga,

Good luck with all the tests tim will eventually go through. What are they

doing

liver tests for? I am a little confused. I know this is a tough season for

all of us

being around colds, etc. Whenever gets sick , like all of us the

appetite

goes.

Storm has always been a lover of water also. Although now I try to get him

to drink juice or milk instead for the calories, I'm afraid he's filling

his stomach with water and then won't eat as much.

I think the liver tests are part of the standard CBC which are commonly

elevated when fighting colds. It has happened on several samples, so one

gastroenetrologist has even talked biopsy. I did my own research and found

out that they need to be way elevated for a few months before it indicates

liver problems, so I've pulled in the reigns on the specialists. A new GI

discussed taking several samples over a period of time and an ultrasound

before biopsy. The problem is picking a time when I feel confident that

he's not fighting off a cold, especially this time of year.
