Guest guest
I have had the chest pressure that you describe. I went to the ER, because it gradually increased and would not stop. Everything turned out ok. I would suggest you call her doctor, just to be on the safe side. Guest guest
Jeanne, I often have chest pain. Sometimes it is the side of my ribs. Sometimes it is where my breast bone is. Sometimes I get it where my collar bone is. I have many medical conditions so although I think that it is my fibro, it could be another one of my illnesses. Guest guest
Singulair ended up helping a lot of my chest pain and congestion. I do get pleurisy with my Lupus though. So its a tough call sometimes. Also, I had a chronic cough that was caused from reflux disease and a hiatal hernia; when I started taking omeprazole for it the cough subsided which I'm sure helped the chest/rib pain also. One more thing, if you take Lisinpril for high blood pressure - its known to cause a cough also. Guest guest
Be very careful of any sensations of chest pressure. It probably is not anything to worry about but can signal heart symptoms. Even though she is young, it is possible. However, most likely there would be other symptoms also such as shortness of breath. Could be fibro. She needs to have it checked soon. Debra V. Guest guest
I know that chostalcondritis is popular in people with FM. It's an inflammation of the cartiledge (?) between the ribs. I had a bad bout of that in college. I was taken to the emergency room and everything. Don't ask me what they did for it since I've slept a lot since then (not enough, but alot). It will cause a pressure in the chest. I really hope she feels better. Guest guest
Chest pain/pressure is what started both my son and I on the road to chronic illness. I had the pressure in my chest after my son was born in 1990 and it was awful. It stopped but pain would come back at odd times and " take my breathe away. " I had everything check, which anyone with chest pain no matter age should do first, and everything was normal. Eventually I developed fm and was dxed about 4 years ago. My son, Nic, developed chest pains at 12 and was dxed with fm about 2 years ago. (He is 17 now.) Chest pain I understand is common in FM and it still should be checked because you never know. My sister had a friend who's 23 year old nephew died of a heart attack. Age is no factor, health is no factor, that boy was an athlete, check any chest pain that could be heart related.
