Guest guest
, Our daughter has been seizure free for over 8 months. She weighed 32 pounds at the onset of the diet and is on 1050 calories a day still. We have never increased the calories. She continues to grow and is now 38 pounds and 40 inches tall. She has no other disabilities, so I thought this might help you decide. Hope it helps, Diane
Guest guest
Hi everyone-- has been gaining weight. We don't have a scale at home and haven't been to our dietician for an accurate weight in a couple months (75 minutes away--too far just for a weight check!), but I can definitely tell. His face looks fatter and is developing a slight belly. I am guilty as well of adding a bit of food here and there, but I don't think enough that would make him gain. We're going to get a scale today so we can start weighing him at home. Here's my question... what to do? He's 37 lbs/16kg (or at least used to be!) and 41 " . He's on 1086 calories per day. We're on a 3.5 ratio. We dropped from a 4:1 ratio because of consistantly high ketones. Plus several times I got fed up about dealing with meds and gave them to in applesauce (way more than the allotted carbs) and saw no change in ketones. I'm thinking if we reduced calories, we should lower the ratio. Is that a good idea? And how many calories should we eliminate per day? I don't necessarily think needs to lose weight even though he's gained (this probably just puts him in the 50% for weight). For obvious reasons I don't want him to continue to gain. We still do not have total sz control though we're pretty pleased. (averaging 1-3 sz per day, down from 7-9 and mostly much milder and on very, very few meds now). Any advice would be appreciated. ashley mom to alex, age 4, autism, possible LGS, ketokid since 5/
Guest guest
First of all, don't make the mistake of thinking that the " bit of food here and there " won't make a difference..... I now know that it certainly can! Whatever you decide to do, don't make both changes at once. I would think that you need to get a handle on keeping him from gaining any more right now.... and that might take just cutting 50 calories a day..... but I think it would be a good idea to call and ask your dietician, too. Then, I'd say just hang tight for a week or so before lowering the ratio again. One change at a time is our mantra around here. Patti weight gain/need advice Hi everyone-- has been gaining weight. Guest guest
Thanks, I think I'll cut 50 calories from 's diet and see what happens. That would put at 1038 calories which is pretty much in line with what your daughter is getting. And I'll try to control myself from giving anything extra! ashley and congrats for being sz-free! hopefully we'll be there as well one day. ---------- From: currierdee@...
