Diabetes I can handle, Bursitis another problem

For a couple of months, my arm and shoulder has been bothering me, especially

when I get up in the morning and also when I try to put my arm behind my

back. Finally, I decided to go to the doctor. (I'm one of these people that

can

tolerate pain.)

I had an appointment this morning. After explaining how my arm/shoulder

hurt, she moved my arm in different ways. She then told me I had bursitis. She

gave me a prescription for Naproxen, showed me how to do some exercises, and

for me to come back in a month if not better. Well, I know it is going to be

better, because she wants to give me a cortisone shot and I don't want that.

Because I had a morning appointment and I was already near where hubby works,

met him for lunch. We went for pizza. Two hours later, bg's were 90. I'll

admit I did not eat all the crust and I was walking (shopping) after eating.

Now, I've got to get busy doing these exercises. I don't want to have to go

back to the doctor. I'd rather spend the money on other things.

Hi Sandy,

I do not want to get the shot. As of now, the pain is not that bad. A

couple of years ago, I had to take prednisone for a rash on my face and neck. I

only had two high readings during that time. One was a 181, the other 164. All

other numbers were normal.

With the exercises and the meds, I don't think I'll have to take the shot.

For what it's worth... whenever I have an " injection " of cortizone into a

joint or area where my arthritis is pretty severe, it does not seem to affect my

bg's at all. However, when I got an infection and had to take the oral

medication... it went up. that has happened twice.

So maybe it would not affect it by getting the injection. Cortizone

injections can take the pain away immediately and last for years... so they are

worth

it.

Hi Shirley,

Thanks for the information. I'll try the meds for a month and see what

happens. I realize, though, that I cannot take the full strength. I'm having

to

cut the pills in half.
