Guest guest
Tom, How long did it take for your body to start experiencing these problems? Is it safe to assume that if one keeps there numbers in check that you will not develop these complications? NEWBIE > Hi: > Am new to this group. Guest guest
Hi, I'm new here. Anyone who can offer some advice I would love to hear it. Not to make this email long: my son was diagnosed with autism at the age of 20 months. After doing my research, I began a loooonnnng fight with Early Steps to get ABA early intervention services, OT, and Speech in home. ES had sent my son to an EI center (glorified daycare) but because of immune issues he rarely attended. I finally got 4 hours of ABA and 1 of OT in home from Early Steps and just this Feb. began speech at a center. All these services end on his birthday in 2 weeks. The DAY BEFORE his birthday the school board has scheduled an IEP meeting. I have been told by phone that the ONLY options available to me are the local public pre-school or speech in a group 20 minutes 2X per week. I have letters from the in-home Early interventionist hired by Early Steps (this one did his initial eval and final eval and worked with him for 6 months) that ABA is the most effective way to teach my son, evaluations from 2 BCBA which state how effective this therapy has been for my son and one recommending at least 20 hrs. of intervention (but stating that 40 hrs. is the research based amount and stating that this is often impractical), and a letter form the developmental pediatrician recommending 30 hrs of " Intensive early intervention ABA therapy " . How do I go about getting or even requesting early intervention ABA services from a school system who has never heard of it apart from behavior intervention with much older children. Thank you for any help. AnnMarie
