Guest guest
Jill, I'm grateful it worked out too. I'm waiting for the pain clinic at the University hospital to call so I can schedule an appointment there. I was told they would call me within 2-6 weeks. Next Monday it's 5 weeks. I know that the doctor that refilled the meds would not cut me off cold turkey but would do something to taper it. It was the thought that the nurse would pull a stunt. I've had so many problems with her, that I don't fully trust her, to be upfront with me, and tell me all that the doctor has said, or wants done. so many things have been that way since she started there. I've brought them to his attention, but she has stayed on. That's one reason I'm glad to have moved. the PCP I go to up here is nice, and his nurse is not that way. Thankfully! Every month a pain refill is needed this has gone on with his nurse. It's a big hassle every time. she once told me that I was taking methadone to withdraw off of Vicodin, but the next visit when I asked him about that, ans said if that is true, I'll be glad to stop taking it, he just has to let me know, and tell me how he wants it done. He looked at me, wrote out a prescription for Vicodin and said take it whenever you need it. He even upped the dose she had last filled for me. When I called for a refill of Vicodin, she would lower what he had written, then on the next visit he'd write another for the previous amount he had written. Never a word was said about tapering off, or anything. I have been on a roller coaster for the past 2 years that she's been there. I do plan on talking to him about this, and having it all up front what is expected before I leave the office. He had done that the day before we moved, but his nurse seems to have had other ideas. This time I'm going to ask that his nurse be in there when we talk about it. One way or another, I'm going to write a note to him and let him know my feelings on what has happened this past 5 months plus what has gone on the time she's been there. The times I didn't have a bit of problem was when another nurse was on in her place and before she got there. Needless to say, I have been irked with her~ Thanks for the note on this, I sure appreciate it. Love, ~ From: Jill -Hand Lord , I am glad that this is working out - at least for the short term. Here's to hoping that the new rheumatologist will be good - and give that doctor of yours a good talking to when you make that appointment! Weaning methadone is something that needs to be medically monitored, this isn't something that you should do alone, so it's someone's responsibility to help you do this, if it needs to be done.
