Hi Dale,

I agree with this statement 100%. I don't care how many doctors or how often

Bernstein (whoever he is) says that you can't eat potatoes. They have never

seen me. They don't know me so how can they tell me what to eat and what not

to eat. I eat potatoes several times a week (last night it was FF) and I've

never had a high reading because of potatoes.

When I stopped listening to everyone telling me what I could eat and what I

couldn't eat, my bg's became normal, I lost weight and and went off meds.

Of course, if you are on insulin you can take a large dose to 'cover';

however, those of us who use diet primarily haven't that luxury.

Hi Bruce,

You have stated that you can't eat potatoes. We understand that. There are

some of us that can eat potatoes, so please stop telling us not to eat them.

I eat potatoes and I'm not on meds. They do not cause my bg's to go up.

Potatoes do not bother me either. I don't eat fried anything but I do eat white

potatoes but in small portions. I try to keep everything in small portion. Helen

>You are insisting that everyone who is Diabetic do what Dr.

Bernstein says and it's not possible.

I've not seen Bruce (or anyone else for that matter) INSIST that

anyone on this list follow any particular plan. We all have a right

to share our beliefs and experiences, which is, I believe, exactly

what he is doing.

Maybe it's just because it's Monday, but why so much bickering?

Before taking offense by what someone writes, we should ask

ourselves, " Is it possible I'm misinterpreting what this person is

trying to say. " Certainly we could all give each other the benefit of

the doubt, and be a bit more gentle with one another.

After all, we're in this thing together... and this list is so much

more meaningful when we build each other up, rather than tear each

other down.

In peace

I can now eat potatoes occasionally. I even can have rice slightly now...if

i exercise after, and don't eat much of it. The more i exercise tho on a

regular basis, the more i can have some of the things i could not...just

smaller portions and not as often...but it has taken me a year and half to

get to this point.

When i do stirfry, i heap on veggies, but tiny bit of rice.

It is getting easier to do high protein for me...and i feel better, but i

don't think to give up carbs too much more than i am unless i have to.

When first diagnosed i could not have rice or refried beans or potatoes, and

even had to watch the bread, wholewheat even. Scared me cause i didn't know

what i could eat without BG going up....i became a wreck over it. Now i eat

healthier and begun exercise more...and i do try to keep carbs down, and

drink more water too.

Everyone is different...i am glad for those who can have some things i still

can't....as long as they aren't eating it in front of me. (lol)

Good luck to all of us working to kick diabetes in the tail-end!
