Guest guest
Hy, Katy: Welcome! I just joined today also. I am looking forward to getting to know other families as well. I live in California with my husband and two kids. My son is also 28 months and weighs 18 pounds (and gaining since g-tube surgery) and is 30 " tall. had a rough start by being born two months early weighing 1.14 lbs. and 12 inches long. So has a lot of catching up to do (even for a kid with RSS). When is your son's birthday? 's is 12/7/96. Well, gotta get the kids to bed. Take care! But, as way of introduction: My husband and I live in NJ (both work for Lucent). Our 2.5 year old son has been a " failure to thrive " since birth...He has grown, but at a very, very slow pace. At 6 months he dropped from the 10th% in weight to that nebulous area below the chart. He is now 28 months, 32.5 " , 22.5 pounds. We have seen every specialist possible and finally saw a genetics team at CHOP (Childrens Hospital of PHilly). They believe he exhibits many RSS like indicators, although not some of the classic ones (e.g. he was not IUGR). Right now we boost his caloric intake with all the usual tricks..lots of dairy, butter, pediasure, ensure, etc. Our next step is to meet Dr. Harbison from (Cornell Med in Manhattan). She says she can confirm a RSS diagnosis and proceed from there. > What I hope to learn from all of you: > --Ways to boost calories > --Tricks to upping the appetite > --The decision to use or not use GH therapy > --How to predict adult height > > Thanks, > Katy > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Looking to expand your world? > http://www.ONElist.com > ONElist has over 115,000 e-mail communities from which to chose! Guest guest
Hi, was born 12/10/96, fullterm, but from the start it was obvious he was a problem eater. He never ever cried, not for 6 months. Now, looking back, I see that the poor kid just didn't know to be hungry. katy
Guest guest
You know, katy, Ross was not a crier either. Maybe that's one of the reasons why! I just kept trying to feed him every couple of hours whether he wanted it or not. He wsa a laid back baby, not like my first child. I never thought of him not being hungry in those first few months. Ross was also full-term, weighed 4 lb. 8 oz. Dennise Re: Glad to be here > > >Hi, > > was born 12/10/96, fullterm, but from the start it was obvious he was a >problem eater. That week was a busy week for RSS babies being born! ha. ha. was on 12/7/96. How big is your son now?? You probably already told me. I need to start keeping notes on people to keep on my computer desk to refer to.
