Guest guest
Hi ladies!! I guess I didn't explain to DH how this site works, but I think he did a pretty terrific job anyway. Thanks to for helping him out. And thank you all for your congrats and well-wishes. The C-section went pretty well, I think. Nothing out of the ordinary, except the anesthesiologist let stay with me for the spinal/epi combo after I started crying when she said she doesn't like to worry about having two patients (I was terrified of the anesthesia, not the actual section). During the surgery, I became nauseous several times and dry heaved while they had my guts open. I also had a pretty bad case of the shakes. I asked to not have any mind-altering drugs and they said they don't normally give any. There are parts of the birth that I don't remember so well, but I think it's mostly from the nausea (they said that was from the low blood pressure caused by the anesthesia and from the tugging and pulling on my organs). I did ask the dr to look for my left ovary since no one had ever been able to find it. And I'd heard several ladies here mention their dr's had found endo at various stages even though they were asymptomatic, so I asked for them to look for that as well. I am bruised up to my ribs and after they first said there was no left ovary, they did eventually find it. And I was surprised to learn that I do, in fact, have a left rudimentary horn connected to the left ovary. The dr said it looks like solid muscle and is obviously non-communicating, based on the HSG and saline sonogram. Canaan is doing great. We had some worries with low blood sugar and temp regulation the first 24 hours. After that, they made me panic over a very slight case of jaundice and had me supplementing the breastfeeding with formula because my milk was delayed in coming in. We saw the pediatrician this morning and my milk came in in the middle of the night so she said I can stop supplementing (thank God!). And in case anyone is wondering, Canaan is Hebrew for " Promised Land, " " Heaven, " or " Any wished for ending. " And our son is all three of those. I can now say that I understand what people mean when they say they are in love with their kids. It truely is the most wonderful feeling. Thank you all for being there through it all with me. Guest guest
Oh Becki, Congrats!!!!! Your DH did a great job. Those pics are amazing...Canaan is perfect!! I'm glad to hear there's no endo. Funny how they can find all sorts of things when you're open, huh? Left ovary and left rudimentary horn. I'm so happy for you and dh!! Enjoy you gorgeous son. Guest guest
Becki, did a fabulous job updating us - what a great guy you have. I loved being able to read his perspective and yours. > The C-section went pretty well, I think. Wow, sounded kinda rough. I'm sorry to hear that you were suffering from nausea and low bp during the delivery. I've heard that the shakes are common from anesthesia or the quick decrease in your body fluids since you lose a lot during birth. Are you moving around ok now? I'm glad that Canaan is doing better and you are able to stop supplementing. Thanks for sharing everything with us through your journey. It is such an incredible opportunity we have here to share in each other's stories and celebrate the birth of your baby. I know that you will enjoy every minute of being a mommy. Congrats! Guest guest
Oh Becki!!!!! Congratulations on your beautiful Canaan. What a beautiful, strong and meaningful name. Thanks for writing about your experience in the c-section. I think about that procedure a lot - wondering what it's like to go through. I'm sorry you had the shakes. Keep me updated on your recovery!
