Guest guest
<<I was just reading in diabetes for dummies that aspirin and any aspirin related drugs (salicylates) can cause hypos in diabetics.>> Hi Fran, I did a comprehensive search on the Internet & saw nothing but articles encouraging diabetics to take aspirin to reduce the risk of heart attacks & strokes. However, many articles did state that aspirin assisted in lowering blood sugar. Aspirin therapy (low dosage), as a whole, seems to have a lot of benefits. I used to take 81mg of aspirin per day until my internist told me my blood was too thin. So, I ceased taking any aspirin. I would check with your doctor to see what he/she recommends. In fact, most of the articles I read advised a doctor consultation before beginning any type of aspirin therapy. Some medical conditions and/or medications may be compromised if coupled with daily aspirin. Rhonda Y. rhonda.yeager@...

Guest guest
My doctor, nutritionist, and endocrinologist recommended low dose aspirin (81 mg./day) just for good heart health because diabetics are at greater risk for heart disease. Guest guest
Excessive quoting manually removed by moderator. I did an internet search and there are tons of studies and papers on diabetics taking an aspirin a day. http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=16423 http://www.diabetesmonitor.com/aspirin.htm http://my.webmd.com/content/article/76/90215.htm The links go on. > Hi Fran, > > I did a comprehensive search on the Internet & saw nothing but articles > encouraging diabetics to take aspirin to reduce the risk of heart attacks & > strokes.
