<<I was just reading in diabetes for dummies that aspirin and any aspirin

related drugs (salicylates) can cause hypos in diabetics.>>

Hi Fran,

I did a comprehensive search on the Internet & saw nothing but articles

encouraging diabetics to take aspirin to reduce the risk of heart attacks &

strokes. However, many articles did state that aspirin assisted in lowering

blood sugar. Aspirin therapy (low dosage), as a whole, seems to have a lot

of benefits. I used to take 81mg of aspirin per day until my internist told

me my blood was too thin. So, I ceased taking any aspirin. I would check

with your doctor to see what he/she recommends. In fact, most of the

articles I read advised a doctor consultation before beginning any type of

aspirin therapy. Some medical conditions and/or medications may be

compromised if coupled with daily aspirin.

and would take like 4 several times a day. I havent done that for a few

months now. Sinse I started eating low carb they went away. fran

My doctor, nutritionist, and endocrinologist recommended low dose aspirin

(81 mg./day) just for good heart health because diabetics are at greater

risk for heart disease.

Excessive quoting manually removed by moderator.

I did an internet search and there are tons of studies and papers on

diabetics taking an aspirin a day.
