wrote, " I have a burning and a feeling like my neck weighs 100 pounds "

Hi , I have that feeling almost ALL the time. The Baclofen they gave me

for my spasms seems to help it as does heat but it never completely goes

away. I've had it since I was little so I think I've almost learned to

ignore it. I used to think it was normal, like everyone had it. Then Doctors

tried to tell me it was stress storing in my neck and shoulders. I

sympathise with you. Sometimes it feels like my neck can't hold my head on

anymore but at least now because of this group and people like you, I know

this isn't normal. I wish I could help more.

You could always a) report them to the Better Business Bureau in their area,

and B) report them to the Attorney General's office in their area. Those

are two things right off the top of my head this morning.....

Any other ideas anyone?

Question

Hi,

I was wondering how you go about having an online MT

school investigated? I know of one that I am pretty

sure is a scam.

Thanks,

Hmmm...depends on what you want investigated exactly. Can you elaborate? Do you

think they are doing

something illegal?

Several things come to mind but nothing that comes in packets. Some

information about the patient and/or diagnosis would help in making an

educated guess as opposed to a shot in the dark.

Can anyone here tell me what a diabetic can eat to lower cholesterol and

Hi Helen,

My cholesterol and other of those numbers all got in the normal range when I

started eating sensible (for me this is eating what I want in small portions),

adding additional exercise to my schedule and losing weight.

Hi Helen,

I have been asking the same question myself this past week since I

was eating vast amounts of dairy foods and Atkins low carb high fat

convenience foods, and have to lower my LDL.

What I understand is that garlic or garlic pills have been proven

effective, as well as oatmeal (which is too high glycemic for me) and

Metamucil also works. I have now started to eat only low fat/no fat

dairy products. Soy also is helpful, and I just purchased WASA soy

crackers which have only 4 carbs and 0 fat. I found a couple of good

websites too-

Good luck!!

> My father is type 2, 78, and has been taking fish oil tablets for

the past year or so, per his doctor's recommendation, for both his

cholesterol and trigliserides, and both have been reduced. His

doctor recommended the fish oil as a last ditch measure, before

putting him on prescription medication. He and my mother both take

one capsule a day, at dinnertime. I can get more info for you if you

are interested, ie what dose the fish oil capsules are, and how much

his #'s came down, but he is thrilled to be able to avoid

prescription medication. The only thing I know is that they buy the

fish oil in a huge supply from Costco or Sam's club, although I have

seen them in drug stores like Walgreen's in the vitamin/supplement

aisle.

In regard to low-fat items, it is best to compare labels. Often low-fat

items are " beefed up " with additional carbs to make them taste better. (It

never works anyway, so I don't see the point, LOL!)

I use something called " Carb Coundown " . It is a dairy product but it only

has 3 grams of carbs and 12 grams of protein per full cup. It works for

me! I even get to have chocolate milk this way. It comes in Chocolate or

regular " milk " .

I just wanted to post that many dairy products, like skim milk, are

considered carbohydrates. I'm in no way telling you not to consume

them, I just noted you were talking low-carb products and thought

you might not be aware of the dairy/carb issues.

The carb count for grapefruit juice is 22.131 for a cup.

Best thing for me is to test before, try it and then test my BG an

hour after. That gives me the real story on whether I can eat

something or not.

As long as we keep in mind that much of the stuff advocated has not been

put through rigorous testing, and anecdotal evidence is nothing more than

anecdotal evidence. Also keep in mind that alternative supplements can

affect prescription medications, have side effects, have interactions with

food and other alternative supplements, are not regulated in dosage and

quality, etc. I'm not saying don't use them, I'm only saying treat them

with as much caution as you would any prescription medication.

Anyone done any research on the heart?

I was thinking. If fibro attacks the fibrous tissue/muscle and the heart

is a muscle. Can it attack the heart?

I have had bouts with irregualar heart beat...but cardiograms shows my

heart is fine.

Just curious if anyone knows anything about fibro and the heart.

Hi ,

That's an interesting question. Today I keep getting old chest pain.

I don't know if it's my muscles, but my arms & shoulders are sore

from yoga yesterday. My b/p 134/82 and pulse 100 by wrist b/p cuff.

Maybe lungs?

Hi Jennie,

I have what is called Bigeminy and was told it was a premature heart

beat. I was also assured that my heart is in good condition after

many different tests, and when I had an invasive test of my arteries,

the Dr said he hoped his arteries looked as good as mine do when he

is my age. (I was 77 at the time) I can't remember the name of the

test but it was done in the hospital. I think it was called a

catherization.

I wonder if this is the same thing as an irregular heartbeat.
