Guest guest
Hi Dawn, I have been on Neurontin for a few years now. It was originally given to me to help with my Neuropathy, but when I saw the consultant at the Pain Clinic he considered it a valuable component of the cocktail of drugs I take for pain. I have never had any trouble with it though I only take between 900 and 1200mg daily. I think I did feel a little dopey on anything more! Guest guest
Hi Penny, I've been on Neurontin for about 6 years, & absolutely love it. I couldn't survive without it. There was a study done that shows if you take a narcotic, THEN take the neurontin, it will boost the effect of the pain-killer. I take 5200 mg per day, (not all at once) & don't have any side effects. I don't have much of an appetite, but I've always been that way. One time when I was working I ran out of Neurontin, & thought I would die from the pain. A co-worker with MS gave me some of her stash of Neurontin, and within half an hour the pain was fading. It really really helps me, and when my neurologist wanted to take me off of it I refused. Why mess with something that isn't broken? I lost my glasses over the weekend & had to see my eye doc today. Someone actually stole their air conditioner, & they stayed open in the muggy heat just to see me. The eye doc told me that after about 6-7 years on Neurontin, the drug will slow down pupillary response, which she told me is not bad. My vision, corrected, is 20/20 in my right eye, & 20/25 in my left (I had a stroke a couple of years ago that messed with the vision in my left eye...I've lost color perception, plus have a large blind spot). It's going to take 2 weeks to make make my glasses, & I have to wear contacts, which make it impossible to read, so I have to wear reading glasses along with the contacts. I'll be so relieved when I get my new glasses, because I feel really antsy & vulnerable being unable to see properly. Take care, cyn At 06:22 PM 8/14/2006, ygo65@... wrote: >Hi Dawn, > >I have been on Neurontin for a few years now. Guest guest
Hi Cyn, That's interesting. The Pain Consultant told me I could take more Neurontin if I wanted to but I limited it myself. I think I might start to increase it and see how I do. The pupillary response bit is interesting too. My sight does vary somewhat during the day.
