Hi

Does anyone know what kind of lotion you need for your feet.

I haven't had any trouble so far but my Doctor said I need to watch out and

to get some lotion for people with Diabetes. I did notice my feet got colder al

a lot faster this winter. So when I went out to feed I but hand warmers in my

boots and that worked OK.

Thanks

Pat

Have you been evaluated by a podiatrist? If not, you should be.

Hi Pat

I don't think you need to get lotion specifically for diabetics. You

just need something that keeps your feet well moisterized. You want

the skin on your feet to be soft and supple, no dry skin or cracks.

There are many good lotions on the market - we discussed this a few

weeks ago so if you go back through the posts you should get plenty

of good suggestions.

I just bought something called " Nut Butter " made with Brazilian and

Shea nut butter. Mmmm, very nice and the smell makes you want to eat

it! lol I got it at target, it was inexpensive. When I want something

nicer, I go to one of the body product stores in the mall and get a

good foot moisterizer.

Peace

Jacki

Hi Jacki,

Any lotions that have Shea Butter works wonders. It is a great product.

I am a medical transcriptionist and one of my clients is our local

podiatrist. He routinely recommends Eucerin cream for anyone who has dry

skin on their feet. A large percentage of his patient base is made up of

diabetics and he suggests it to them, too. I use it myself and have very

good results.

A very low cost, low tech solution to dry foot skin is to rub a light

coating of Crisco shortening on the feet before bedtime. Many of the doc's

older patients use it with good success. I'll stick with the Eucerin cream

myself, but the price is certainly right for the shortening.

Hi, Margo,

Eucerin cream IS heavy and rather greasy but it is certainly effective! I

put it on some time before going to bed and it soaks in pretty well. Socks

help, too, as someone else mentioned. Vaseline is excellent, too, as was

also suggested. Since I type all day with my hands, plus hand quilt

whenever I can squeeze in a minute, I try to keep them looking nice, too.

Eucerin or Vaseline rubbed in well before bedtime works well. I put clean

socks over my hands since I can't stand gloves either. Most mornings when I

wake up, though, I've removed the socks in the night. <S> Either of these on

the legs at night can help with dry skin on the shins--another problem I

seem to get in the winter.
