Guest guest
It is okay to discuss this subject, but be kind with your words. Last year, we had a member that was going to have this done. She had no other choice, she had tried everything possible to lose weight. She left the group. I wrote to her. She replied and told me that she was " really scared " because she could die from the surgery. I have written to her several times since but have had no reply. How she is doing, I don't know. On the other hand, I know a man that weighs around 400-450 lbs. Several years ago, he lost a lot of weight. His wife told him that he had to gain the weight back so they could go back on disability. He did gain the weight back. Now, he wants the gastric bypass surgery and has talked to the doctors about it. It is my opinion he lost it one time, he can do it again but I can't judge him. I do know he wants it done now and doesn't want to work with a nutritionist to help him get prepared for the surgery. I am very concerned about this person because I don't think he will do what is necessary after he has the surgery. There are people that take diabetes meds so they can eat more. Then, there are people that do everything possible to stay off meds. There are also people that no matter what they do (or eat) cannot control their weight or bg's. The world is made up of all types of people. Until we walk in someone else's shoes, we can't judge them. hugs Eunice
