Guest guest
Hi everyone! I need a sounding board and advice. I've been contemplating the position that short mm'ers are put in. We don't have as clear a case as a more prominent tonsil herniation. In other words, our symptoms MAY be caused by our " minimal " herniation, but they don't know for sure. I've gone through every test known to man, and the only thing I seem to have is the 5 mm chiari (and cervical disk herniation which I had operated on 6 wks ago). I have seen one chiari specialist who said he would not operate because the herniation was minimal and I was having a good day so the neuro exam was not bad. I had sent films to another chiari specialist who said he would operate, based on the films and my symptoms and lack of a quality of life. The nsg that I am currently seeing said that he would operate. How the heck do I know what the right thing to do is? Is it a risk that I take because I don't have any other choice? Any short mm'ers out there been through surgery? Any thoughts? Help? Thanks for listening! I hope you all are having a good day! , 39 (for a few more weeks!)
