My husband and I joined a gym a little over a week ago. I scheduled a session with a personal trainer last Friday and today to get a weight training routine into my schedule. Today we did all the upper body stuff and I thought I would simply lay there and die.

I've been doing the elliptical cross trainer thing in the evenings with my husband. I do it for about 20 minutes. When I'm done, I wonder if my heart will pound out of my chest onto the floor. And then I will simply lay down and die.

So.....I said to her today...."I've never been a skinny (meaning fit) person and exercised so I don't know how it feels to be skinny and exercise.....do skinny people feel like they are doing to die to?"

She said "Yes, they do. It's work. It's hard. And you keep pushing. Skinny/Fit people do it to stay fit."

Oh. Yeah. THAT'S how it's suppose to work.

I give everyone in this group a huge round of applause for working out! It's tough stuff. Here's to getting fit!-Chris-Pre-OpDr. Rumsey/Pacific Bariatric350/309

I always thought that the reason I didn't like exercise is because I was fat. I figured that it was so easy for people who were normally weighted and they just loved it! Well, I am now normally weighted and I exercise alot and I still don't really like it! But...I do like what it does for me so that is why I stick with it. There is something to be said about pushing your body to be more fit and seeing the results over a period of time. I knew I had muscles in there somewhere and now I can actually see them and it's pretty cool.

Congratulations on making the commitment to exercise. It is one of the true keys to success with this surgery, before and after.

Hugs,

Pat B.
