I have no clue, but I hope it's resolved!!! Maybe something like Enrique's fear

that Salli will hurt him? A strange manifestation of anxiety?

question

is doing the weirdest thing.

Noone has ever yelled at him for breaking something. God, he breaks something

every day, why start now?

The other night, he broke a souveneir plate my SIL had brought us from Chile.

He thought he'd help by hanging it on the wall -- but neglected to find

something to hang it ON. It crashed to floor.

" I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY!!!!!!!! " He shreiked, and his eyes filled with tears.

" It's ok, , " I said, " You were really trying to help. I didn't like that

plate much anyway. " (smiled a big smile) " I'M SORRY! " He shreiked again.

" It's OK, , " I said, and gave him a hug. " Are -- are you sure? " he

snuffled.

Weird, but I wrote it off.

This morning, he was playing with a woodpecker thing in dad's backyard. You

pull on a string and a woodpecker pecks wood. Very kitschy. The string broke

off. HE LOST IT. Marc handed him the string and told him to give it to

grandpa, grandpa would fix it. flung the string out of his hands.

" NOOOOOOOOOOOO, " he wailed, " he'll be mad! He'll yell at me! " My brother,

assuming comprehension (Because he knows nothing of autism), told him that

grandpa would be glad he told, and mad if he didn't tell. laid down on the

patio and cried. Finally I pulled him in the house with the string to find my

dad. Finally got the string to dad, explained the problem. Dad smiled at

and said, " That's okay. I can fix this right now! Let's go fix this! "

" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, " wailed my son, " you'll be mad at me!!!!!!! "

What the f**k is THIS???????????????

Same thing here for Conor. Many times I'll be watering flowers or doing

whatever and he will come around from the backyard with only shoes and socks

on. Pam :)

That was Marc (dh) when he was young. They'd go to the beach, he'd wear his

bathing suit in the water once, and then take it off and spend the rest of

the day naked. He explains it now like this: " that was the RULE. you

don't wear wet clothes! "

Yet he maintains he has no spectrum issues.

I’m so far behind on reading my emails I’m sure I will never catch up! I

just wanted to know if you have fluorescent lighting in your home or do you

work somewhere with that kind of lighting? A friend of mine worked in a

store where they had fluorescent lighting and she began to look like she had

a severe sunburn all over. It seemed to get worse every day. She finally

had to go to the doctor and she was allergic to the lighting. I don’t know

if everything went back to normal or not now. I haven’t seen her lately

since her husband died and she had to leave her job to take care of him

while he was so sick.

Hi ,

This could be a lot of things, including maybe rosacea? Maybe you should ask

a dermatologist. Good luck!

My morning bg's are always now around 79 to 90 and at bedtime are around 98 to

99 does anyone else have have same kind of numbers? I am type 2 on Glucontol XL

10 mg a day and watch my diet. Have not had a reading over 120 in weeks..was

surprised when the VA did my husbands blood work and said that the normal should

be 70 -110 guess the difference is in Labs. Helen

I was suprised that the military had such different ranges from my Dr mine

said 70-125 was normal. Who know??? Helen

Re: Question

I've been told that what's most important is the 2 hour after meals blood

glucose reading.

That would be another important reading to take for you.

I was told that 70-120 is normal range for BG. Mine hovers around 75 at

times and I feel fine.

Is Glucontrol Glucophage with something else in it?

Congrats on your excellent control!

Hi ,

Have you been checking your bg's? Also, lack of exercise will cause this.

If I get too much sleep, it affects me this way.

I am not sure I could go one day wihout eating. I start to shake if I

wait to long to eat breakfast.

I also have a question. I STAY tired its like I can't get enough

sleep no matter home much I sleep. I have always liked to sleep but

the past few weeks it I can sleep all night and I am still sleepy.

Do you think I could be my sugar? lack of excercise? I don't know

what is going on.

Thanks

Hi ,

I know that very often, *because* of the diabetes, we tend to look to that

first as a the reason for our not feeling well, or feeling differently than

we're accustomed to. But my first suggestion to you with this would be to have

your thyroid function checked by a blood test with the doctor. I was diagnosed

with hypothyroidism almost ten years prior to my diabetes diagnosis (I was off

the meds for several years -- thanks to an inept endocrinologist who took me

off them when he noticed I was functioning normally -- and when I had my first

blood work done post-diabetes diagnosis, the thyroid problem naturally showed

up again) and one of the *first* symptoms for me when my thyroid isn't

functioning properly (i.e., I need to have my dosage of thyroid medication

increased) is how desperately tired I am. I'm feeling that way right now, and I

have

several other symptoms that are telling me that I need to talk to my doctor

about it; unfortunately, I had to cancel my last appointment and I can't seem to

get in touch with her to reschedule. When I was initially diagnosed with the

thyroid condition, I was literally sleeping ten, twelve hours a night and

could probably fall asleep on command no matter where I was, at what time of day

(not very different from the way I'm feeling during the day right now).

I mention this too because diabetes and hypothyroidism are often intertwined,

particularly in women (I think that women, in general, just based on what

I've read and seen in my own experiences, are more likely to develop this

condition). Since they're both endocrine/metabolism conditions, they can and do

often go hand in hand with one another. The other symptoms that are *key* for

me

are significant hair loss and a burning, painful sensation in the feet and

lower legs, which can be mistaken for the beginnings of diabetic neuropathy;

fortunately, once the thyroid meds are adjusted, the symptoms disappear.

I'd have it checked out. If you can, call your doctor's office and ask

whether your most recent blood work included tests for thyroid function. The

one

you need to look for in particular is TSH - thyroid stimulating hormone.

Hope this helps.

Some people do. My next door neighbor, for example.

Question

If a person is on insulin could they eat what ever they wanted and adjust

the amount of insulin? I am not suggesting this as something to do I am just

asking the question. Thanks, Helen

I guess it's just a matter of how high off the ground the tightrope

is. The balancing act between high and low gets that much trickier

when you get into situations capable creating big highs.
