Guest guest
Heres my 2cents. Thats all I have left after wasting $60 on worthless Nioxin shampoo products. Didn't help at all. Money down the drain. Save your money for a wig or cut your hair short. Bridget > > > > Good Morning Everyone, > > > > I was wondering if anyone had problems with hair loss? Guest guest
Nioxin is a great product, unfortunately though its not one that will really help you right away. I had very thinning hair starting in my early 20's and wayyyyy before WLS. I was advised by my Dr to start using the Nioxin products but to be aware it normally takes 3-4 months before you will notice a difference. It was true, after about 4 months I started noticing my hair was thicker and alot of new hairs were sprouting. In the course of the next year the amount of hair I had probably was 5times more. I have used it now for about 7 years and looking at before/after pictures its pretty amazing. Its expensive but has been so worth it for me. So, its a great product, unfortnately for WLS purposes it takes as long to work as it probably would for your hair to grow back naturally anyway. If you do keep using it regardless though I bet your hair will be even thicker than before! :-) ~Amity~ Lap RNY 04/24/06 > > >Heres my 2cents. Guest guest
You must have at least 60 grams of protein & take vitamins to prevent hair loss. It is normal to have hair loss after any kind of surgery,
Guest guest
Try BIOTIN... you can get it in any vitamin store... It is great for hair and nails! It only costs about $5 and you can take it up to 3x a day! It's WONDERFUL! > > Does anyone know if hair loss after surgery is caused by lack of > protein? Guest guest
Pam, I had the surgery in January, started to notice some hair loss in April but by Mid to late May it had stopped. Making sure you get enough Protein and taking your Vitamin's will reduce the hairloss (and strengthen the hair you do have) not to mention improve your overall health. In short, take good care of yourself and don't worry, it will pass. > > Does anyone know if hair loss after surgery is caused by lack of > protein? Guest guest
I am finding out that hair loss comes from any major surgery. I had hernia repair and it was basically like having my gb all over again because it was open abdominal surgery in which they completely opened up my muscles and cleaned out all of the adhesions, repaired several hernias, put in mesh behind the muscles, and sew me up like a corset LOL Well now, about 2 or 3 months out I am losing hair by the handfuls again Bobbi -- Hair Loss Does anyone know if hair loss after surgery is caused by lack of protein? My surgeon said hair loss is quite common in the 3rd or 4th month. To be honest, I'm terrified of this side effect of the surgery. I'm starting my 2nd month and am trying to get in at least 80 grams of protein a day. I keep thinking this will aide in preventing hair loss. Am I correct or does it have nothing to do with protein intake? Thanks! Pam
