Many thanks to whomever created it and posted it. I have " modified " it a bit to do averaging totals and am adding to it for individual monthly totals and charting. If the formulas and calculations are correct, I'm showing an overall 3 month A1C average of 6.77 and a BG total average of 160 Hi Rog, If you downloaded the chart created by C. Warman, I believe that was created using the formula for " whole blood " . Most meters now measure " plasma " , so the calculations should be BG readings + 77.3 divided by 35.6 = A1c Let me know if you have questions about this. Guest guest
I'm currently using a Medisense meter and plan to switch to a One Touch Ultra shortly. The Excel spreadsheet is currently showing a formula of: =((AVERAGE(B2:B31))+86)/33.3 or (BG + 86)/33.3 Your saying I should change the formula for these readings to (BG + 77.3) / 35.6 Is that correct for my meters? Thanks, Rog > > If the formulas and calculations are correct, I'm showing an overall 3 > month A1C average of 6.77 and a BG total average of 160 > > Hi Rog, > If you downloaded the chart created by C. Guest guest
WOW...!! Changing the numbers to 77.3 and 35.6 made a big difference in the output. With the previous numbers, my overall average for the last 2 months changed from 7.01 to 6.19 with the numbers you recommend. I'm adding and averaging all values from daily tests over last 2 months then entering it in a formula that reads: =((AVERAGE(B2:E31))+77.3)/35.6 This gives a result in my case of = 6.19 Otherwise the first try I can either average all daily values =((AVERAGE(B2:E31))+86)/33.3 = 6.88 or average the totals from each seperate column of the 4 daily tests. This gives a different result. =((AVERAGE(B33:E33))+86)/33.3 = 7.01 vs. =((AVERAGE(B33:E33))+77.3)/35.6 =6.32 Which should be correct or more accurate? Hi Rog, For the past several years, meters have read bg's using plasma so yes you should use the new formula. hugs Eunice

Hi Rog, I don't know which would be more accurate. I still use the calculations for whole blood. I started that way and just haven't changed. I know that my monthly average is going to be a little lower than shown on the spreadsheet. I'm not too concerned with the daily averages and I am satisfied as long as my monthly averages are less than 6. Eunice
Guest guest
Thanks. I now have it changed. Guest guest
Using the calculation changes you gave me, I'm currently showing an overall average (July 28 to present) of 6.08. August of 6.07 and Sept so far of 6.24 I'm expecting the numbers to trend up a bit because of the changes in medication that I didn't have in July or early August. It will be interesting to see how the numbers change as I drop levels of prednisone and increase methotrexate. Thanks for the data.
