If you go back to the pharmacy where you had the vicodin filled you

can request a copy of the prescription along with information on the

date it was filled to take to the other doctors as proof that you

actually had a prescription. Pharmacies are required to keep copies

of all prescriptions they fill for a minimum of one year.

I've bee having problems with my DSL since January, & they finally

fixed it yesterday. I told them I was disgusted with their service

and was going with someone else. It took them 5 minutes to fix it.

I have had so much trouble with doctors lately. I found out around

mid-January that I had some slipped disks in my back. The ER doc gave

me some vicodin, which I told my pain management doc. Somehow, that

didn't make it into my records, & when they did a tox screen on me

got Medicare, the docs who accept Medicare won't accept me because

Last week I called my old pain management dr. & begged & pleaded to

come back. It was THEIR mistake, for some reason they didn't record

the vicodin when I gave them the bottle. They called me Friday and

asked for the information about the dr who gave it to me, & said the

dr. was reconsidering letting me come back.

I have been going thru morphine withdrawal the last week, and I try

to sleep as much as I can. I can't think of anything worse....to have

,

You should be able to go to the hospital to obtain records from the er.

Their medical records department has a copy of your visit. I have just shown

up

at the hospital, signed a release and left with my records all within a few

minutes.. Contact your hospital medical records to determine if you can do

this. Good luck. It continuously saddens me that our health care system is

such a mess. The patients are the ones that suffer from it.

Hi Donna-

If the pharmacy gave you the incorrect meds, then the pharmacy has a lot to

answer for, in my opinion.

Back again

Hi,

My name is Donna and I am returning to the group. I

was diagnosed with fibro back in August of 2005. I also

have multiple allergies, sinus infections (chronic)and adrenal

tumor, high blood pressure...I could go on and on but won't.

I was wondering if any of you have ever had this happen

to you. I got my blood pressure meds refilled at my usual

pharmacy and they filled it with the wrong meds. They gave

me a script for heart failure patients. I ended up in the

ER with low potassium levels almost below 2..a high blood

pressure rate and climbing and a heart rate that is still

high. This happened in November. Now I'm going to a

cardiologist. As if I didn't have enough to deal with with

the fibro and tumor. I try not to let things get me down

but lately I've felt like going to bed and not getting out.

I'm sorry for venting but I am literally ready to

scream enough all ready. Sometimes when the pain gets too

tough I look up and say o.k. bring it on!!!! I try not

to give up but I'm spent.

Donna,

When my son was a baby he had reflux and was on medication for it.

When he was only 8 weeks old the medication that he had been taking

was recalled because it was proven that it could cause heart problems

after long term use and the Dr. gave him a different medication. I

had the medication filled at our normal pharmacy but instead of

puting .05 ML on the label they printed out 5 ML (1 tsp). I realized

the mistake the minute I saw the bottle and called the pharmacy back

to question them about it only to be told by both the technician that

had answered the phone and the pharmacist on duty that they had

correctly printed the label. A few hours later the head pharmacist

got into work and called me apologizing profusely for their mistake

and told me she was sending a driver over with the medication in a

correctly labeled bottled along with a refund for the price I had

paid, she sounded TERRIFIED on the phone that I might have given my

baby the medicine in that dosage. Anyway, when I looked up the

medication and read the information about overdoses I found that had

I given that to my son it would have caused him to go into a comma &

die. THANK GOD I realized there was a problem and didn't trust the

pharmacy.

I don't know if you can take legal action in your case, that's

something that I didn't pursue because thankfully we did not give him

the medication so I let it go (maybe I shouldn't have but I did).

I am sorry to read about your experience and hope you will feel much

better soon.

Your son being able to hear some with the implant is really great

news. Having raised a handicapped daughter who didn't talk until she

was almost 5, and was also quite slow in her being able to sit,

stand, walk etc., I can understand your pleasure. I still remember

the first time she crawled and made it over to the bookcase and

started pulling books out. My husband and I were cheering her on we

were so happy. Believe it or not, she now has earned her B.S., M.S.,

Ph D., and M.D. When she was 41/2 we were told she was mentally

retarded. We would have accepted that but we were convinced

otherwise. When we tried to tell the therapists what we could see,

we were told she could be an idiot savant! Never give up hope for

your child - I know raising him is hard but you can get through it.

We did.
