Because they are in the pay of the drug companies and of the

RE: Atkins diet

Bruce,

Why are you so steadfastly against the ADA? I have found a lot of good

information from this assn and it's website.

I watched a Discovery Health show called " A Trash Can Full of Skin " .

The woman had all this skin from weight loss. She lost over 300 lbs

from a diet similar to Atkins, the show stated.

Hard to argue " water loss " with 300lbs, lol. Also questionable is

the argument as to whether 300lbs of fat or high protein is most

safe. Not endorsing a diet, just happy for this lady that she found

a way to lose. She said she never thought she would lose the weight

that she gained from steriods and accient in the 1990's. Great to

see her succeed!

Sharon, my hubby began Atkins 1/3/04 and is down about 40lbs so far.

He has about the same amount of weight as you. I read Dr. Atkins

latest book from cover to cover and created a weekly menu for him,

and made sure I had lots of those foods around. After the first

couple of weeks he caught on. So, I would suggest you read his book

as a good start. The website also has some great info. You could

also contact them at the website for further help.

I try to follow it, but not so closely, as I'm still breastfeeding.

I can tell you that my readings have been much more stable and I

feel better. Hubby hasn't excercised any yet, as he has knee

problems. But, he can say his knees don't bother him nearly so much.

He's becoming more active around the house because he has more

energy. We just purchased a pool that we plan on having installed by

the end of April and he's planning on doing water aerobics all

summer to help strengthen him and help him lose more weight so that,

hopefully, by fall he'll be up for more activities on his knees.

HTH and you can do it!

> Hi Everyone--

> This past week I went to the doctor and was not too happy with the

results. My A1c is 7.9 and my thyroid medication was doubled. I

was also told to make an immediate appointment with the doctor

(soonest I could get is Mar10). Anyway, the good news for me was

that he agreed to letting me try the Atkins diet.
