He is type 2, and his tygliserides were especially high, and his doctor had recommended he begin taking a statin. He wanted to avoid medication, so he tried the fish oil, and it has brought his levels down alot. But it was a significant enough decrease that the doctor dropped his insistence that he take medication. My parents- maybe it's a generational thing, are very anti-medication. While I certainly agree it may be best to try other solutions first, for a problem, but they are both very stubborn. For example my mom has osteoporsis, but refused to even consider medication, because she " might " have side effects, like insommnia!! Even after she fell and shattered her wrist in June, she still won't consider it.
