Guest guest
, If you do decide to do the diet, it's only fair to you and to Karley to give it your best shot.... at least for six months..... so it will be worth all the work. I am NOT a disciplined person and this is the most structure I've ever had to deal with but you do get used to the routine. I don't have to deal with Katera begging for food as she hasn't got the cognitive awareness to know how to beg. But, if I were you, I would prepare in advance a little special stash of really fun little toys or new videos (shop garage sales, thrift stores maybe?) or whatever non-food items would thrill Karley...... whistles, bubbles, little flashlights, stickers, tiny dolls or plastic animals, etc. When she starts to beg, pull one of those out.... or let HER choose a wrapped " prize " .... and see if you can circumvent the temptation to give in and give her a treat. You may not just have the threat of an immediate seizure from a cheat but the potential for " upsetting the apple cart " altogether..... it sometimes is a real fine balance. Once you've made this big committment, you won't want to toss in the towell so easily but it would help to have some tools on hand to turn to. She might learn to appreciate these special prizes so much that you'll have her begging for food even when she isn't hungry just to get one, though! Patti ----- Original Message ----- I am afraid that if Karley comes to me with tears and asks for food I will give her something because I am not in fear of an immediate seizure as most or some of those on the list are. I don't know how strong I can be at those moments or how many times I'll be running to the bathroom bawling because I'm so frustrated and so unsure of myself and the diet
