I'm glad the Moducare helped. In the health food industry, we always tell

pregnant women not to take *anything* (other than the standard multi, folic

acid, etc.) without the advice - or at least the knowledge - of their

doctor. Homeopathic remedies are an exception, being very safe for

pregnancy and children.

That said, I spoke to a representative at the company who makes Moducare,

and their statement is that it is put on the label (to check with your

doctor if pregnant or nursing) as a precaution mainly becasue it is

considered a food *supplement* (not an essential vitamin) and therefore a

pregnant woman needs to inform her healthcare provider as to what she is

taking. Otherwise, from their research and standpoint, Moducare is safe

during pregnancy and nursing, and for women who want to continue to support

their immune system with Moducare, it is fine. And rememebr, it is not an

herb, but a natural substance found in plants.

In my own experience, in my first trimester, I cut down on all of my

supplements, only taking a multi and extra folic acid, as well as a blend of

essential fatty acids (Udo's oil). I was kind of following my instincts at

that point, especially becasue I had a lot of nausea. I do take Moducare

right now, however, and I have a very strong immune system. I do not get

the colds and flus that get passed around at work - the last time I was sick

was probably about 5 years ago. Moducare isn't the only reason, but the

boost from it certainly helps.

I think ultimately you should follow your own instincts - I honestly believe

that your body really knows what it does and does not need. Here is a link

to the moducare website, as well:

The fears of being pregnant with an MA are soooo normal. Hang in there, it

will get easier. You certainly deserve to enjoy every moment of being

pregnant (even with the paranoia that we all have!) - I am so excited for

you!
