Guest guest
Would you put the second sentence below in one sentence with punctuation or make it into three separate sentences or? It seems very long the way it is. At this time I feel the most likely diagnosis is coccidioidomycoses, however, other infectious organisms cannot be definitively ruled out. **The above has been discussed with the patient at length and we have talked about 3 separate options; the first being to monitor the patient clinically and radiographically for resolution of the infiltrate, the second to start the patient on antimicrobial therapy for presumed coccidioidomycosis secondary to positive complement fixation titers, the third to pursue an open lung biopsy for definitive diagnosis.** Thanks in advance for any and all help. Guest guest
It's my personal opinion that even though it is long, you only need commas in that long sentence, even where you have a semicolon. Also in the first sentence, I would either put a semicolon before however in order to leave it all together because both parts are independent clauses with subjects and verbs. Otherwise, you could make " However, " the beginning of another sentence with a comma after " However " . ----Original Message Follows---- To: <nmtc > Subject: Wordiness Date: Wed, 30 Jan 2002 14:57:40 -0800 Would you put the second sentence below in one sentence with punctuation or make it into three separate sentences or? Guest guest
Two options: " The above has been discussed with the patient at length and we have talked about 3 separate options, the first being to monitor the patient clinically and radiographically for resolution of the infiltrate; the second, to start the patient on antimicrobial therapy for presumed coccidioidomycosis secondary to positive complement fixation titers; the third, to pursue an open lung biopsy for definitive diagnosis.
