Guest guest
Hello Margaret, In reference to your comment: è Also, it is PERRL not PEARL, probably just a typo. è Margaret Nope, not a typo. She said PEARL plain as day and it's in Neil Abbreviations... I had to look because I had never heard it. I wondered if FREOM was full range extraocular movements. Oh well, that's what she got... since it's verbatim. Thanks Jan " Typing is my life " (said sarcastically) Remember... WSTPMTR (which means, whoever signs the paycheck makes the rules). Guest guest
Hello Margaret, In reference to your comment: è I checked my abbreviations book and it does show è PEARLA, but not PEARL. Have you ever had a è chance to check with the doc to make sure which one è she means. Margaret, when she said it, I thought it was supposed to be PEARLA too, but Neil Abbreviations lists PEARL as pupils equal and reactive to light, so she got PEARL since she said it plain as day. She's a physician's assistant, not an MD, which is why I had looked it up since I had never heard it that way. As you probably recall, I work for Edix, and the rule is.. " when in doubt, go with verbatim. " -- unless it's a glaring error. Since I was able to document it, that's what she got. For the FREOM, she got that verbatim too, but I put (??) behind it since I wasn't able to document it. Jan " Typing is my life " (said sarcastically) Remember... Guest guest
BTW, I neglected to mention that when she said it, she spelled P..E..A..R..L... per pearl or perla as they sometimes say.... which is why I went vebatim, especially after I looked it up in and found it. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that earlier. Jan " Typing is my life " (said sarcastically) Remember... WSTPMTR (which means, whoever signs the paycheck makes the rules). Guest guest
Jan, Total guess here, but how about full range extraocular movements? Maybe just says it differently from most, as I would usually hear EOMF for extraocular movements full. Also, it is PERRL not PEARL, probably just a typo. Margaret >>> 02/12/02 06:12PM >>> Hi all: I'm doing an H & P dictated by a physician's assistant, and under the physical exam in HEENT she says: Normocephalic, atraumatic, FREOM, PEARL, mucous membranes moist. I have never heard FREOM and am unable to document. I've heard EOM, or EOMI, but never FREOM. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance Jan " Typing is my life " (said sarcastically) Remember... Guest guest
Jan, My doctors say Pearl all the time, which I was told when I first started doing transcription and have always understood to mean PERRL. I checked my abbreviations book and it does show PEARLA, but not PEARL. Have you ever had a chance to check with the doc to make sure which one she means. Just wondering as this one is new to me.
