Not in the cause or in the course of treatment.>> Hi Keri, I completely agree with your thoughts on changing the names of Type 1 & Type 2. As I have come to know & love (who is a Type 1 pumper), I have learned that his disease is completely different from mine (Type 2, diet & exercise, no medications). Yes, we have similar eating plans. However, the way the body reacts for each of us is like night & day. And, of course, our treatment plans are different, too. When you have to live without the use of a vital organ, it doesn't compare to someone who still has some use of that organ (in this case, the pancreas). To me, other than the way we try to eat, Type 1 & Type 2 seem to be two different diseases. Until someone has experience with both types, it is difficult to understand this. I know until I knew so well, I thought we were all in the same boat. Not even close! I often wondered why Type 1's were always looking for support groups & listserves with more Type 1's as members. I thought that it wouldn't make a difference...why couldn't Type 1's be happy in the company of Type 2's for information and support. It's because, we are VERY different. I thoroughly understand now.
