Guest guest
Hi, I'm Betty and though I've been a member for quite a while I've been away from it for quite some time. I was reading a few posts and noticed that some of you have trouble falling asleep. I, too, have sleep problems but of another sort and was wondering if any others have it though I found quite a few in another group and it is part of fibro. Non-restorative sleep. It's where you sleep but with many active dreams during the night....in fact you ONLY dream. No rest. I've been this way for many years and it's really starting to take it's toll on me. It's getting to where I get up in the morning just wanting to scream. I have other problems as well, and sometimes don't know if the problem is related to them or the fibro. I won't take up more time now, perhaps in another post, but am hoping I can get some answers here. My doctor is a creep...last time I went to him with a lot of pain he told me I couldn't be hurting the way I was describing. So I quit going. Anyway, thanks. Guest guest
Hi Betty, I'm and I have this problem also. I find that the dreams increase in number and weirdness if I'm feeling worse overall, and/or have extra stress in my life. I think it is strangly comforting to find that every time I am having a new symptom or worsening of an old one, it somehow becomes the subject on this group! How odd is that? Sweet *dreamless* sleep, Re: Sleep Hi, I'm Betty and though I've been a member for quite a while I've been away from it for quite some time. Guest guest
Betty, it is too bad you have such a bum for a Dr. I have been fortunate to have a great Rheumy, who is very sympathetic. She has tried may different things for sleep. The only thing that works for me is ambien cr . I hope you are able to find an other Dr, there are good, kind caring ones out there. Guest guest
Dear Betty, What an idiot! It only confirms what I already know about alot of doctors, there not in it to help, just in it for the green! I always secretly wish that they at some point in their life come down with everything that we experience and then truly know what its like. I know, not a good thought, but when you keep meeting with resistence and neglect, it tends to where your sanity down and you start aiming your hostility back at at them through some sort of negative thought process. At least that's whats happened to me. We go to them for help, only to be turned away in alot of cases. Now I know there are good doctors out there, but there are doctors who shouldn't be practicing either, they really should of went into real estate, and saved us all the heartache! Hope you can find someone decent. Claudette. Betty wrote: Hi, I'm Betty and though I've been a member for quite a while I've been away from it for quite some time. I lost a dr. that was supportive (the only one) and then finally just gave up! I do as must natural as I can. I find I do much better with supplements and going the natural route in general anyway. Doctors just don't know anything about this! Or, diets, etc. I didn't sleep for the first 54.5 yrs. of my life!! Literally!!! I'm 55 now! I know go to bed and sleep, perhaps still not as soundly as most people but at least I'm sleeping. I don't sleep for long periods of time. But I'm sleeping. With Fibro we don't get into a REM sleep pattern, that's where the healing takes place. I have tried it all, believe me. ~ > --------------------------------- > How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Guest guest
Dear , I understand what you are saying. I have nights like that. I dont sleep as it is and sont remember the last tiem I had a good night sleep, probably about 14 years ago when I had my daughter is when I can track down the sleep insomnia starting but I was always the first one up and could never stay up late and was always tired. When I do dream they seem so real and I have a very hard time telling whether or not they are reality or not. I fall asleep for about a 1/2 hour and think that I have slept for hours and realize that i only slept that long and then im up for several hours more, fun when I have to work 13 hours the next few days. thatn k goodness I am off until monday. Hang in there today is a bad day for me My trigeminal neuralgia is acting up very bad so my face is killing me and i cant stand the pain -------------- Original message -------------- > Hi, I'm Betty and though I've been a member for quite a while I've > been away from it for quite some time. Guest guest
Hi everyone. I'm newly rx'd w/FM in 6/06 and I'm new to this group. This is my first read and post. I have the same problem with Ambien that Mindi has. For the first month or so it worked great. It felt so good to get a full night's sleep. But for the past month, it has not been working as well. Sometimes it takes me longer to fall asleep and sometimes I keep waking up during the night. I asked my Dr. about it and he never heard of Ambien not working like this. I was suprised to hear that someone else has the same problem. Has anyone found something that works better? Thanks, . > > Carol brought up the subject of sleep cycles in her post. I was just wondering how everyone else deals with this. I'm taking Ambien, which used to just knock me out into a wonderful dreamless sleep for about 8 hours or so, but for the past month or so it doesn't work as well. It takes me forever (at least a couple of hours) to fall asleep - sometimes I just catch cat naps all night long. It seemed like I was always looking at the clock, so I finally got one that you can't read in the dark unless you push a button and I even put that on Steve's side of the bed! But, even with all that, when I do fall asleep I have the most bizarre dreams! I know that prednisone can give you wierd dreams, so I try and take that early in the day, but the wierd dreams still happen nearly every night. Then I know I " m not sleeping well because I'm so tired all the next day. Any suggestions? I go to my doctor next month, so I want to be ready with my list! > > Mindi >

Guest guest
Ambien quit working for me for a while. My Rheumy said to hang in there it would work again. It did, but I still couldn't fall asleep quickly, but did sleep once I got to sleep. Never get 8 hrs tho, but maybe I don't' need that much, who knows. I am now taking ambien cr, and it is working so far. Peggyb Re: Sleep Hi everyone. I'm newly rx'd w/FM in 6/06 and I'm new to this group. This is my first read and post. Guest guest
HI all, I don't take Lunesta or other sleeping meds yet. So far the Elavil, benadryl, Soma, Melatonin and a pain pill helps me sleep. I take Valerian root as a back up. Since I had to stop the Elavil and Benadryl for my allergy test I bought the Valerain. It stinks so I use my calcium chew afterward. Debbie J -- In Fibromyalgia_Support_Group , " slimmingdaffodil " wrote: > > Sheila, > > Thanks for your reply.
