Guest guest
Hi all. Need some advice. Long story short. My son started the diet in Feb . At first, the only benefit we saw was the lowering of meds.(YES this alone was worth it.!!!) His seizures stayed the same pretty much. We lowered calories at the 3 month point and he did get better(He was at @40-60/day and dropped to 10-20). Then we broke up his 3 meals and a snack into 1/2 meals and he got to eat 7 times a day (Did this to survive the summer in a house where someone seems to be always eating and was driving nuts!!!Begging for food when he never did before!) He then went to under 10 a day, very unnoticable lasting 30-60 seconds. Well, we weaned 1/2 pill or 250 mg of Keppra and within 2 days he got worse. Because we have seem get worse before he gets better on a wean, we waited it out. BUT we are on day 13 and he is no better . Just worse. He is clustering 10-12 seizures an hour! And they are very noticable and lasting 4-5 minutes. Some of the worse seizures has ever had. Talking alot of valium.. I finally called the nuero and will see what he wants to do? What do you all think? Should I wait longer on the wean? Does it take this long to get over the hump? Or should I go back up again? You all know what I am thinking, will even going back up the 250 mg do anything? OIr did we just get into trouble here? is on 3:1 at 1100 calories. The only change was the breaking food into 7 times a day. Somedays he may have missed a 150 snack, but I doubt that would do it? If they diet is working at all , why would this happen, unless it was the decrease? New food tried in this period were the eggplant fries. Can't be that? No, we did chnage a vitamin to Kirkland's Calcium, Vitamin D,Mag and ZInc.? Hmmm? What do you all think. I am at my wits end. I am not sure I can keep up with this constant sluething!!!!! Feeling despair Eileen, 's mom!
Guest guest
The closer we get to the end of a med wean the longer the withdrawls are. The last one lasted 3 weeks, for that reason we have not gone down any further for a lonnnnggg time. We have been trying to get off Clonazepam for over a year!
