Guest guest
Hi Tom I used to say I had all the complications diabetes had to offer except the retinopathy but just found my eyes are now effected too. Seems to go along with the kidney involvement in some. Are they managing to help control your creatinine levels? I also have PN and autonomic neuropathy which made controlling my BP extremely difficult. Has the neuropathy affected you in that way? chant Outgoing Mail Certified Virus Free NAV 2002 Have been diagnosed as Diabetic since 1982 and am Insulin dependent. I have the usual (??) Diabetic complications; -Neuropathy, Impotance, Corinary Artery Disease and Kidney Disease. I am interested in how others are handling these complications. Specifically Neuropathy. Guest guest
Hi Chant: Yes I have retinopathy and had Laser Surgery a couple of years ago. My Endo put me on an Ace Inhibitor and this seemed to halt further damage in my Eyes and Kidneys. I do have periodic Low Blood Pressure problems because I am on 2 Ace Inhibitors. My Creatinine is slightly high and I have micro Albuniun in my 24 hour urine. I have tried every med available to control my neuropathy I have been on Neurontin for the past few years, but it kills my energy level. I realy think that returning to Insulin in July has realy helped my Diabtes Complications. I am taking Novolog fast acting Insulin which realy gives me a KIA (not the car) in the AM. Guest guest
I have the same problem, can't take the meds for treating PN. Neurontin caused max edema so that was out. I have found over the years the PN pain has gotten slightly better but that is because I have lost most sensation to the knees and in the hands/ to elbow. Blessing or curse, don't know I am also on several BP meds which have helped with the nephropathy. Never have a problem with LBP I'm at the other end of the scale. I swim three or four times a week and that really helps with the circulation etc not to mention the BG's. All that stuff I can deal with, it's the eyes that really scares the heck out of me. It seems that most diabetics who have micro/macro also have retinopathy.... chant Outgoing Mail Certified Virus Free NAV 2002 Hi Chant: Yes I have retinopathy and had Laser Surgery a couple of years ago.
