,

Do you have an email address for the dermatologist? Or a snail mail address?

I live in England at it would be a bit pricey for me to phone her. I have

read about that herbal cortisone product you mentioned. It is by HerbaLabs

(www.herbalabs.com). It was someone on this eGroup that wrote about it a few

weeks ago. I am quite interested in this product because topical steroids

were the most effective treatment for me, except that they became

ineffective after some time, so I wonder if the herbal cortisone would also

be ineffective for me.

The Chinese herbs you're taking, do you know what's in them? I'm just about

the reach the end of a course which I've been on for 3 months, and have

pretty much decided not to continue with these particular ones, mainly

because each month has cost me US $180, and the only effect I've experience

is for my rosacea to get worse. I've emailed the doctor and he says that

toxins are still being eliminated from my body and I need to continue taking

the herbs until there is a clear up.

Instead, I've decided to take another approach. There is a local Chinese

herbal practitioner in my area who says that if my rosacea was brought on by

stress, they can cure the stress and therefore the rosacea. The only problem

is that these approaches can take months, plenty of opportunity for them to

make money before I realise the herbs are of no help. You say your herbs

have definitely improved your skin. Do you think you will eventually be

cured, and if so, how long would you say it might take?

hi to answer your questions...sorry i do not have anything but a phone

number, maybe you could phone and ask if they have an email, i might call

this week and if i do i will ask the question and post it , okay? i am

currently on maintenance for chinese herbs...i take flax seed oil 2 in the

am and 2 in the pm for the essential fatty acids and the omega 3 6 9

combination apparently the amount of cis linoleic acid is important...i also

take digestive enzymes to help digest the food and have me on a regular

cycle for elimination.. apparently you should have a bowel movement each day

and this is all related to the leaky gut syndrome that bill has posted on

previously. i also take a stress b vitamin. i should tell you in the

beginning i started takeing acidophilus with bifidus, drank chlorophyll all

day, 16 glasses of icy cold water avoided all triggers identiffied by the

national rosacea society stopped everything cold turkey improved my diet 100

% avoided dairy, wheat and certain fruits allprocessed products and sugar in

any form ... I mean i stopped everything immediately and ate a bland diet

to help work on the internal side of things. not everyone has the will

power but i saw some pictures of the progression of the disease and got

real scared and said if there is a way to fix this i have to do something...

i was the biggest chocolate, candy cookie freak in the world to stop was the

best thing i did after a week or so it got easier, the water tasted better

and i enjoyed eating the good stuff. i previously had a drink of water once

in a week if i was lucky. also i should say my rosacea was in the beginning

stages of a small blood vessel visible on each cheek and was prescribed

metrogel which immediately made the rosacea cover my cheeks in a week or so.

i had perfect skin , a spot only once in a while i used to have olive skin

greek descent ) born in hastings england, moved to canada when i was 4.

no one in my family has this disease and i think i got it when i had my son

7 years ago, gained 50 lbs never got rid of it ate a garbage junk food diet

and one day developed a red spot on my jaw line that was similar to a hive,

like an idiot i put a topical cortisone cream that my husband had for an

itchy spot he got on his legs. it is what cause the rosacea for me i feel.

my gp would not send me to a dermatologist and told me avoid the sun ( i

then faded to a very pale face skin tone) still am very white? i now burn in

the sun where i never did before and last summer was my first summer with

rosacea and had to use lots of sunscreen and wear foundation as i never did

before. the herbal program was very extensive i was taking 12 pills 2x per

day for a month or two but now feel that things are going well. i still get

the itchy red spots like a pimple and they come and go, my derm will only

give me hydrocortisone cream for it if i use an acne cream it gets worse so

this is why i will try the herbacort. anyway sorry for the rambling message

but i did want you to know a bit about my background. i am aware of a

couple of people with rosacea that now control it with flax seed oil or

salmon oil or evening of primrose oil. take care susan

Yes, thanks , for this and your second email. I think I will have to

get used to the idea that whatever I do to try to cure it, I will have to

expect it to be very long term therapy. By the way, has anyone tried

applying cider vinegar to their face? I read on Abbey's Herbs Website that

it is good at clearing rosacea, presumably because of its antibacterial

action. It recommends mixing it with water in equal parts, and maybe adding

onion juice and garlic juice, and also witch hazel (dried herbal form). I

tried just the vinegar once and after a bad initial reaction that made me

vey red (I think from the heat it produced), after about a week my skin

cleared up pretty much entirely. You'd have to put up with the strong smell

and the possibility of burning eyes though.

Wow, just about all of these are major triggers for me -- I don't know if I'd

dare put that combination on my face.

I did. The first time it was wonderful. I waited about a week and then

tried it again. (I'm cautious to a fault over here.) The second time, I got

into a major flare from it. I know everyone is different and, I think, Carol

uses it. But this is one that is worth moving slow with if you are going to

try it.

Cider vinegar is all I have used for several months now, works great for me

but not equal parts, more like a small dash to a gallon of water.

To keep my face from chapping due to the vinegar, I use aloe vera applied

when my face is wet. It does not help much with the redness, but it has

reduced the bumps on my nose by half at least and the duration of the bumps

from 2 or 3 days to 1 day. Best stuff I have ever found and believe me I have

tried a lot things

Never tried garlic or onion juice though.
