One thing that I have found I have to do at work to keep track of

everything I need to do, etc... is to write it down. Even things that

I think I will remember, I still write them down.

I try to write everything new down but this place moves so fast and

this fog is driving me nuts. The computer keyboard rest that I

missed made me feel like I was totally losing it. I told my sister

and she said just go in and say " Thanks a lot. I was so busy

concentrating on the work that I didnt realize how nice it was to

type on something that wasnt shaking. " I did sort of notice it but I

was concentrating on not forgetting anything and just didnt focus on

anything that wasnt totally work related.

Oh, well so they think I am an idiot - or worse yet - old!

is please don't be so hard on yourself!!!! You are human and therefore not perfect. People without Fibro do things like that everyday and much much worse. Difference is your kind and don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. He will be happy tomorrow when you say thanks. Your doing great is so be a good friend to YOURSELF and stop calling yourself an idiot..OK? From someone who thinks your doing great!!! quiltingbee2 wrote: I try to write everything new down but this place moves so fast and this fog is driving me nuts. Ha ha ha! Im " old " well at least young people think 49 is old. I

decided to stop dying my hair and just let it go gray. Guess what?

People are much nicer to you when you have gray hair! Who would have

thought it? I think its wonderful being older.( I didnt think I would

make it to this age) <smile>

I wish you well on your new job. After you have been there a while it

will be easier. I am also one who writes down things to try and jog my

memory. You could also get a small tape recorder to use so that if

anything is really important you wont have to waste time writing.

is,

I also work in a fast-paced office and suffer from Fibro-fog. Like many other folks have suggested, I write down everything on paper and in a "daily log" I keep in Excel on my PC. However, in really hectic environments, like where I work (and sounds like where you are as well) you don't always have the opportunity to get it in writing. My wonderfully supportive husband came up with a solution for me that works brilliantly. He bought me a digital voice recorder. Very small, light-weight, about the size of a Zippo lighter or pack of chewing gum. It has a clip on the back so I can just clip it on a lanyard around my neck or in a pocket or the waist of my skirt or pants. I record notes to myself throughout the day at work and can play them back at any time. It will also show you the day and time you recorded the note. It has really saved my bacon on more than one occassion.

If you are like me, it is especially hard to focus and remember stuff later in the day as my fatigue increases. It took me awhile to get in the habit of using it and I got some odd looks from co-workers for a bit. But, I got in the habit and they learned to ignore it. No more annoying than folks always talking on their cell phone or writing in their planners. Anyways, the one I have cost about $70 US, but there are models that cost as little as $20 US. Considering the benefits, they are well worth the price.

Hope this suggestion helps.

HIAs you guys know I started a new job last Monday. I am really struggling with the fog and remembering so much new information. I feel like a complete idiot. Then to top it off one of the guys in the office changed my computer keyboard holder - the thing that the keyboard sits on. The one that was on the desk was really shaky. I was so tired and out of it today. I didnt even notice the new one even though the old one was right next to the desk and I could have tripped on it. Someone finally mentioned it to me. By then the guy who installed it had left for the day. I was just so out of it. I dont knwo what to do about this fogginess/tiredness. I have such a hard time retaining any information it is driving me nuts!anyway thanks for listening. is

Thanks ,

That is a good suggestion. I made a ton of notes today and am trying

to figure out a way to organize them. I might actually bring them

home and work on them here. I think repetition is a key thing in

learning with the fog. I told my husband when my body works, my head

doesnt. I don't think he understands completely about the fog

because it is hard to explain. The pain he gets but the fog is just

so hard to explain to anyone.

Thanks again, I may look into this.

Hi is I didn't read all the posts, just to pick up the jist of it. The first 2-4 weeks on ANY new job is challenging for ANY conscientious person...add a chronic illness and it ups it. Honey, cut yourself some slack, say thank you late, know that in many workplaces its amazing that anyone shows any real courtesy at all, so a little goes a long way. I like the voice recorder too...use one for school...works great.A Peaceful day to you, Riverquiltingbee2 wrote: Thanks ,That is a good suggestion.
