Guest guest
Hi , I'll never be " statuesque " but I'd sure like to be- thought you might want the definition: Statuesque: a woman, strikingly tall and well proportioned; having the stateliness and grace - associated with the beauty of statues. Please don't tell me when you reach this state - I'll be too jealous to give any congrats out!! Take care Tracey ----- Original Message ----- To: <Graduate-OSSGegroups> Sent: Sunday, June 18, 2000 6:44 PM > I have been wondering what qualifies as " STATUESQUE? " I hope that is good! Don't worry, I'll never tell you when I reach " STATUESQUE! " I'll probably never make it: I might make " strikingly tall and well proportioned; " but, " stateliness and grace " will be my stumbling blocks! (pun intended!) Guest guest
I still think people are staring at me and then I remember that I'm not 410 pounds anymore and that no one is staring or laughing. Children don't come up to me and ask me how I got to be so fat. The last little tyke who asked that question was told " from eating little boys like you! " Boy did he ask me the wrong question at the wrong time! I last saw him running in terror for his mommy. Cruel, but satisfying! I'm still not used to my 168-172 weight and body size. I lived with 300-410 pounds for most of my adult years and only abut 20 months with the new body. It will take a while. I can't be considered statuesque as a 5'8 1/2 " male (I lost about a half an inch or more when my fat pads left my feet and I took out the orthotics I don't need anymore for my heel spurs (which went away). The closest I ever got to be a statue was when a pigeon pooped on me! I was just telling him about the benefits of Protein and the next thing I knew...PLOP! Guest guest
, Thank you my ego simply couldn't take knowing you made it to statuesque! Personally I'm just hoping to make " statue like " - I can already do the " stand and do nothing " piece quite well and the last time I was at an art gallery there were a few " abstract " pieces I might be able to resemble some day (whether I want to or not!) Guest guest
Carol Never too late to put in your opinion. Glad you did. I know, in my case, it's been 12 years since surgery - I am STILL not used to this body I have now - it all just seems so unfamiliar to me. In my case, it appears to be a very long road I'm on trying to get used to this body. I worked for years with kids who have emotional and behavioral problems - when they are mad/frustrated they often swear and try to insult you. Over the years I've been called everything under the sun and have to keep myself from laughing when they try to " bait " me with insults that don't fit (I'm female - but I often get " bastard " and other male curses etc) but you know " fat " (and all it's various forms) still stings - even though I haven't worked with a kid for 12 years who even knows I ever was fat - the sting stays - so strange. Take Care Tracey Re: statuesque > I know I'm late in responding.....but I still find it hard to see myself as small(er). I look in the mirror and before turning away I catch myself staring and saying 'That is really you! It is really You! You are not fat anymore. " > I still look for the sturdiest chair in the room and catch myself looking back to see if someone is laughing at me as I passed by. > I lived sooooo long as a fat person and It is only the last 18 months that I am being considered in the " normal " category. Maybe many years down the road I will take the smaller size for granted. Right now, it is still a very new concept to me. > Carol > Richmond, VA
Guest guest
Bob, You have great comedic timing - even in e-mail - not an easy task to accomplish. Have you thought of taking your show on the road? Thanks for tickling my funny bone so often!
