Hi, I was just recently diagnosed with acm I, discovered from an old mri that

ive had this for atleast 7yrs, new mri shows that it is growing.

I have an appt this wk with Dr. flamm. in N.Y has anybody seen him?

Well I have heard it all as you can all well imagine, even so far as a neuro to

tell me I am PATHETIC, and that this malformation could not possibly cause my

symptoms, and that I probably have a depression/and or an anxiety disorder, or

hell while were at it maybe your just overwhelmed!!!! This coming from the

same Dr who when I asked him if these malformations grow he said NO

NEVER, well duh, look at my most recent mri, it clearly states it has grow in

some significant amount. This is so upsetting, I cant really take care of my

kids half the time( I have 3- ages 20mths, 20 mths and 31 mths) of course as

soon as they here about the kiddies, its like they instantly blame them ( and

ME) Im accused of just being basically unable to cope!!!! It makes me so mad

what I cant cope with is being in pain all the time!

signed really only overwhelmed, oh no no I'm sorry I meant anxiety ridden,

oops wrong agian, how can I poss forget I'm depressed thats it thats the one

gimme a break LOL. H in CT

EXCESS QUOTING HAS BEEN EDITED BY MODERATOR.

Hi Jeff:

As I indicated; I was diagnosed as Diabetic in 1982, but I had

earlier signs that I ignored. I would consider that I have been " In

Control " of BG's since 1986, but the Complications have continued to

progress. Whenever the Complications apear to get worse I return to

Insulin. Insulin apears to more effective than oral meds in

controlling complications for me. My problem has not been average

BG's, but Morning peaks, which I can control with rapid acting

Novolog Insulin. Having an real good Endo.is also important for me.

I am wondering why things would continue to progress if ones glucose numbers

remain in check? This scares me as it makes me wonder am I doomed to major

complications 10 to 20 years from now?

Elevated BG levels is only one symptom of the problem and in itself

contributes to other health problems. But the root of the problem is

not elevated BG. That which is causing BG to become/stay elevated is

the root of the problem. There are likely other symptoms that result

either directly or indirectly from the root cause that contributes to

other complications. Controlling BG is an important part of

maintaining the health but does not address the root cause.

Relax, life is terminal.

All the best,

Jim

There are diabetics who have always managed tight control and still develop

complications and there are diabetics who live a foolish lifestyle and yet

develop none. Nothing is definite but everyone will tell you your chances of

remaining complication free are greater if you keep those bg's in the

appropriate ranges. If you are type two and weight is involved you can help

yourself and possibly get off all medications and if you are type one there's so

many new things being offered now. I have a friend (type one) who had a

pancreas/kidney transplant down east and she is now off dialysis and insulin.

Totally amazing. Her eye damage remains but everything else is great. In 20

years they may have all the answers so don't stress yourself worrying.

I guess I should have said " If you are type two and IF weight is involved "

you misunderstood me. Forgot that last if.....

Not every person who is a Type 2 Diabetic is overweight. And

not every overweight person is a Type 2 Diabetic.

Also, some people who are Type 2 Diabetic have to take insulin.
