Hi Gang,

I had a new Codman shunt put in back in November, and had the peritoneal

aspect revised in January.

We have played with the setting on it a few times trying to get it just

right. Dr. Milhorat tells the neurosurgeon here what to set it at.

I have to have an x ray both before and after the adjustment. Each time

I had the before picture taken, the setting would read different than

what it had been set at the last time.

I chalked it up to different doctors..... But, my symptoms started to go

downhill a little bit lately, my pcp told me to contact the surgeon in

Portland and just have him x ray to see what the setting was.

I went in today, he was at the hospital, said the setting was at 80,

just where he set it two months ago, and according to him it could stay

that way. I was to high of maintenance, and he quit.

I left the hospital with my mouth hanging on the ground. If anyone

knows me, I was rendered speechless, and that is difficult to do.

I called and talked with Dr. Bolognese, and he made me laugh, so they

will continue to do my follow up long distance, and hopefully no more

shunt adjustments are needed :-)

Kathleen
