This was a childhood friend, and the songwriter started thinking back to when they were boys, and he grabbed a pen and wrote this song about the journey out of childhood while he sat at his friend's kitchen table. His friend was in the band that recorded the song. But when I heard it at the end of refridgerator mothers, it was still spooky! The guy laughed and said that it had nothing whatsoever to do with drugs---that it was just about being a kid. :-) But it is interesting to think about it in line with autism...I do that a lot with songs...that one called " Bring On the Rain " ...another called, " No Place That Far " ...there are a lot that hit home in that regard...
