My goal for October is one pound a week, for a total of 4 pounds. When I was diagnosed in early November of 2002 I was 280, so I am happily nearing a milestone of 100 pounds lost, which is pretty exciting. Have " only " 45 more to go, so the light at the end of the tunnel is growing brighter, heehee!! gail
Guest guest
Hi Group! I'm going jump on board too with the weight loss group! My original weight when diagnosed in April was about 275. I am now at 240. My goal for the month is 5-lb. I'm really having a tough time losing weight with using the Insulin...my doctor said it would hard.... I think the initial amount of weight I lost was because of the newness of the diabetes, etc.....Any suggestions on how to help some weight off? even while on the insulin??? Thanks!!! in Virginia > To all the weight loss commitment group, > > You can now post your weight loss for Sept and your goal for Oct. > > We have 38 members who made the commitment to lose weight, but only 21 posted > last month. Yes, it is surely helpful to know that other folks are in the same boat, and can share some of the frustrations (and good news too!). Congrats on your progress also, and hopefully a month from now, at the next weigh in, we will be that much closer to our goals. gail
Guest guest
>> just stick to your diet and exercising; a nurse freind of mine said alot of newly diagnosed diabetics lose weight at first just to gain it back and then some; she said they tend to revert back to old lifestyles of overeating and lack of excercise..... > My goal for the month is 5-lb. Guest guest
Well, still 220. October goal, still 215! I know just what I'm gonna do to reach it -- stop cramming myself, lol! No, I've decided I'm gonna add on a childcare fee so I can start working out every morning. I was trying to at night but hubby has been working late. My blood pressure is starting to creep up again and I was thinking either I can spend $10 for childcare to ensure I get to workout every day, or I can spend 10-35 on monthly copays for bp meds. I personally prefer the childcare $$. Thought I would share in case it inspires anyone else! Debi
Guest guest
, I have found excercise to help me more than anything. I'm not sure how you would do it with being on insulin, because I find that while I'm excercising I get a fairly big sugar drop, sometimes too low by the time I'm done. But, if you increase your muscle strength, perhaps you & doc could end up lowering the amount, that happens sometimes. I'm not giving medical advice here, just what works for me. Maybe check with doc as to best way to begin?
