I can actually eat 2 oz of the regular and do okay but it has no nutritional value so I stay away from it. However, when I eat this, I don't have any other carbs with the meal. I usually have a good, homemade lowfat spaghetti sauce to go over it and sprinkle a tiny bit of Parmesan on top. I cook mine homemade because that way you can better regulate what goes in it. But you can find good, healthy, lowfat sauces in a car or jar. Just check the labels. Just try it and see how you do. If it makes your bg's go up, try 1 ounce. If that makes them go up, then maybe it is not a food you can tolerate. One other note, I can eat several things now that I could not eat 90 pounds ago. I always wondered why Eunice could eat certain things that I couldn't but then it occured to me that she had lost all her weight and maintained it for quite some time and her bg's have been level consistently for a long time too. She also eats small amounts... not large servings and that makes a huge difference. My doctor said that sometimes with Type II diabetes you will be able to eat things at a healthy weight that you could not do while overweight. He said if you are extremely overweight, like me, every 50 pounds makes a huge difference. I've found that to be true. Anyway, I am hoping as I continue to lose that I will be able to eat other things that I can't tolerate now, as I get smaller. So just try things and see what works for you because someone could tell you spaghetti is a NO NO and you may actually be able to eat it. Or maybe not. Test and see. Guest guest
There are various alternative flour pastas available in various health food stores. Some of them are very good, some of them are horrid. I have a Ronco pasta machine which I use to make my own low-carb pastas. Re: Pasta > > MMMMM Pasta is one of my fav. Bad things to eat.
