Guest guest
Grits, You even sound like me! My family wonders how I ever stay on my feet. My hubby s always guiding me when we are walking anywhere " now be careful there is a step up there " or Be care for that teenie tiny raise in the concrete " . Alot of the time it does not bother me for as long as I can remember I have fallen off a horse and had it roll right over the top of me! I was always a klutz! The rhuemie says it is avery big part of Fibro. Told hubby though he would have to tone it down a little as I had not walked around much for the last 1 1/2 years and if he did not quit I was getting too nervous to go anywhere without fear of falling. Guest guest
Oh do I ever understand this one!! I am so afraid of falling. In fact, a fall is what messed up my knee, so that I had to have it re done. Hubby guides me a lot too. Bless his heart. Re: JUST CALL ME GRACEFULL Grits, You even sound like me! Guest guest
I fell/was thrown off a horse too.. The flying in the air was terrifying.. the landing was hard.. I was relieved too, cuz I was no longer air born & the hose just walked away & started eating the long grass several feet away.. I decided I was comphy where I was - moving hurt.. & if a significant trauma is what causes FMS, then that was it.. I can empathize with that.. Kelli In Canada > > Grits, > You even sound like me! Guest guest
I can't even step over the gates.. I'm too short... I pop 'em ot & pop 'em in.. I guess tho cuz of you pets, you can't do that.. Mind you I have done other very graceful acts that would compare.. Guest guest
> > . Well I steped over the gate to go to the kitchen and > my right foot got caught on the gate and over I went. I landed on the > hardwood floor on my Knees and left elbow and my left knee went into my > chest. I have to say this describes me very well! The summer I met dh, we were on an archelogy dig and the rest of the crew eventually started calling me " Full of Grace. " I tripped over tree roots, rocks, my own feet, etc. The principal of my high school my senior year had two different names for me -- first, I had a lung infection in the fall and was in hospital for 2 weeks -- so when I came back, I was " croupy " then just two weeks before graduation, I some how managed to tear the ligament in my right knee while hitting the ball in a WHIFFLE ball game! So, then he decided he need to change my nickname to " Gimpy " ! My ex used to get so mad at me, especially during the 10 years in Chicago, I was always tripping on the sidewalk -- one evening while walking to meet he and a friend, I tripped and ripped a hole in a pair of slacks I liked -- got the same remark " YOU NEED TO WATCH WHERE YOU ARE GOING!!! " Then, two years ago, I was back in Chicago for 2 days and once again, I tripped on the sidewalk -- that time I was afraid I had broken my nose! It was good that I knew Chicago so well because I was just blocks from Northwestern University Hospital so off to the emergency room! And Grits, they did keep me SITTING AND WAITING but it finally turned out that my blood pressure was zooming. Once I realized that, I told them I can get " white coat " readings! So they checked it twice more and the one person said, " Yes, it does start jumping when I put the cuff on! " No broken nose! just another skinned knee, but I did not have time to go to any of the art galleries I had planned to visit that day! Oh and my new coat was covered in black from the dirty Chicago sidewalk! But I am so accustomed to this happening and I almost always put my hands out to break the fall, but that's not good either -- scrapped hands and even possible damage to wrists! Hope the doctor can help you and relieve your pain quickly, Grits.
Guest guest
I don't have the osteoporosis, but I take calcium in hopes of prevention (have Endo, makes more suseptable).. I've broke my toe running into a table as well.. I've fallen going both up & down stairs.. & trip over my own two feet.. plus Rob's shoes in teh hall way *g*.. Yer not the only who is a bit of a clutz.. I think it's the fibro balance thingy that's doing it to us. I think the only thing graceful I've done since dance class as a child was that flying in midair between the horse & the ground.. my broth in law, however found it amusing.. Guest guest
Grits, I am so sorry that you had such a bad fall! Yes, you are right - you should have gone to the ER but I understand your reasons why you didn't. It is a terrible place to have to wait for hours if they don't give you a bed. Please let us know how your Dr's visit goes. You must have one of those extension gates which can really trap you. My children talked me into getting the one that has plastic mesh so no one would be trapped in it. They then threw out the old one.
