Guest guest
Hi Maurice. The only zinc oxide I could find had a lot of other stuff in it that I wasn't sure about. I can't find any either. Let's let each other know if we find any. Guest guest
Hi Maurice I have found two products in the UK containing zinc that have helped me a lot. Here's what I've got on them: Boots Zinc and Castor Oil Cream Ingredients: Ricinus communis (BTW what is this?) Arachia hypogaea (peanut oil) Cera alba (and this - my Latin is obviously not what it was), Zinc oxide, Cetearyl alcohol (doesn't seem to bother me). Available: Boots, UK Price: about £1.40 for 150ml Blurb on packaging: hypoallergic, consultant pediatrician approved, creates an effective and gently barrier against mointure, helping to protect against nappy rash! My comment: really moisturising and soothing and seems to create a barrier between my skin and the outside world. Disappears into my skin without any problems at all - unlike Sudocrem which always leaves white residue - and makes it feel smooth and plump (just like a baby's bottom!). Potter's Skin Clear Ingredients: Starch BP 17%, Sublimed Sulphur BPC 5%, Zinc Oxide BP 23 %, Ti Tree Oil and Yellow Soft Paraffin Available: GNC Health and Diet Centre in Maidenhead - I think it's a chain Price: £3.75 for 30g - but this goes a long way. Blurb on packaging: for mild acne, symptomatic relief of dry eczema and difficult skin affectations. Starch is a protective, Suphur is a mild antiseptic and kills parasites, Zinc Oxide is an astringent and protective. My comment: great for my nose - no spots (I can hardly believe it!) and a much better skin texture (not nearly so flakey or bumpy) - but a bit drying elsewhere. Common names: Castor Bean, Mamona, Ricino, Mamoeiro. It produces castor oil. Thanks for finding those! Guest guest
Hi Maurice I have used Potter's Skin Clear only for a couple of months. I find it too drying on my cheeks, but for my nose it has been great. My nose was my worse component - VERY spotty, itchy and flakey. But (please God) I have only had one spot since I started using it - and that cleared up pretty quickly. Even better my skin texture has improved so that I can put a little make up on. Previously make up looked so awful I couldn't use it. I also use it on individual spots - and it seems to get rid of them reasonably well. I use it after washing and applying metrogel, morning and night. When I'm not likely to be seen by anyone I like to put on a thickish layer and then leave - I look like an Australian cricketer (perhaps you could wear some flannels really play the part!) If I'm likely to be seen I put on a little less and blend it in. If I am going outside for an extended time (more that a couple of hours) I put a sunscreen on top. Actually, I have a feeling that the high percentage of zinc means that it gives me enough sun protection for reasonable periods outside (especially with a climate like ours!) I hope you like it - do let me know Regards, Liz C Re: Re: Zinc oxide ointment in the UK ? >On Tue, 11 May 1999 10:35:04 +0100, Charlton wrote: > >>Potter's Skin Clear > >Managed to find some today, in our local health food shop!
