If I just use it very lightly on the area when the seb

derm first appears, then it is under control within days, and when it's

clear I stop using it. I should say though, I've never yet had the

problem on the central part of my face where my skin is so much more

sensitive, so I can't say what the reaction there would be.

I think it was a couple of days. Like most of the older antifungals, it

takes a while to cure the seb/derm. The first time I used it, I had a decent

case of seb/derm and I think I was on it, total, about six weeks. Once it's

gone, it's gone. You can stop using it and just cycle back on when you need

it. I don't use it anymore, I use the OTC antifungals now but it sure saved

my life back then.

You having any luck with it?

Hi Oakmoss.

Welcome. :)

Nizoral is also made for the skin. It's a script in America, don't know if

it is in England or not. It's a great help with seb/derm and enough people

with rosacea have seb/derm going on too that it's worth a try.

Hello.

I'm new to this egroup thing but this caught my eye.

I am in England and have rosacea. I also have " something " happening with my

scalp. I found Nizoral shampoo and tried it. It helped almost immediately, but

I found that the next day my hair was oily at least an inch from my scalp

already. I continued to used it as directed but have slacked off because I had

to wash my hair every day. Now my symptoms are coming back. *sigh*

Anyway, I haven't seen Nizoral for the skin yet and I don't know if it's a

product to be used for rosacea or not. I just got diagnosed a week ago. :(

I hope this helps anyone who needs to use the shampoo.

(this was also my way of getting in and introducing myself)

All the best,

Oakmoss

Thanks for the info. I went to my doctor today and she is sending me to a

dermatologist. I could have told her to do that in the first place and saved

some money. In the mean time, she prescribed Metrogel. *sigh* I am still in

the " why me " stages.

Oh well.

Thanks for the welcome. :)

All the best to you all.

Hi Oakmoss,

I've had a lot of success washing morning and night with the Zia cleansing

gel (green, with sea algae in it) recommended by Dr. Nase. My favorite

moisturizer is the Oil of Olay for Sensitive Skin (has dimethicone in it),

and to control redness, I apply a zinc oxide cream (40%) at night. I

haven't found a sunscreen that was worth it yet, so I just wear a hat!

I've done a lot of " why meing " myself-it has got much better though. Most

of my whining now is because I want to eat things that I can't have, and

sometimes I walk down the street looking at other " normal " people and wonder

why my family is so bizarre (celiac disease, food allergies, rosacea...).

What I wouldn't give to be able to take the kids to Mcs or Pizza Hut

just once.

My derm recommends washing hair daily with seb/derm anyway.

Thanks very much for the info Kerry. :)

I need to do some research to see if these things are on the market here. I

have only lived here 3 years and I don't get out much.

The thought of wearing a hat gives me shivers, but if I could find a nice straw

one, I might be able to deal with it. :) (I'm sure in time my thoughts on this

will change.)

Another question if I may, what about flaky left-over skin? After I clean my

skin and moisturize, I still have flakes. Is verrrry gentle wiping of the face

ok with a very soft wash cloth a good or bad idea?

By the way, last night I ordered cea-LTD from the states. We'll seeee.

Thanks for your help and I am sending you a virtual pizza with all the virtual

toppings you want! :)

All the best,

Oakmoss

I don't know if I have a seb/derm thing yet. I know something isn't right, but

I will know more when I see the dermatoligist.

The reason I don't like to wash my hair everyday is because it is long (to my

waist) and takes a long time to wash and rinse.

Thanks for your info.

Well, it's something I have had for years but never found anything to treat

" it " . My scalp has always been itchy, flaky and oily since I was in grade

school. I just washed my hair everyday. Over the years I tried all the latest

dandruff shampoos, all the " medicated " ones and nothing really worked. I used to

think I wasn't rinsing my hair enough and would stand there for the longest

time.

Recently, I was reading about yeast (candida) and they described my scalp as if

they were talking about me. The oil, flakes, (if I scratched my head the flakes

were an off-white color) it was all me. So I found Nizoral, which is fairly new

here as far as I know. I used it right away and could tell a difference after

the second washing. The big drawback (for me) is that it is very oily the next

day. I have very long hair and it takes a long time to wash my hair and really

don't want to every day. So, itch or be oily.

Anyway, I didn't have any painful bumps, but I would get tiny scabs from

scratching so much which was a favorite passtime when I was stressed out.

I don't know if this will help, but I certainly hope it does. :)

All the best,

Oakmoss

for years. Just a couple of months ago I started getting a few sore little bumps

on my scalp...very distressing! They start off feeling like a bruise...like I

bumped my head or something. After a day or so they make little bumps. I only

get a couple at a time but I'm worried about it. Might Nizoral help? I have no

flaking or anything.
