Fellow Chiarians,

We received an invitation today to attend the above meeting. The major purpose

of the invitation is probably to ensure wide attendance but it is nice to be

recognized as a group. A copy of the invitation is noted below. If you want

to hear/see Steve Young, (SF football hero), in person, follow the directions in

the letter.

Looks like some of the ACM experts will be there on the 3rd giving the following

presentation/seminar

Chiari Malformation: Evolving Indications for Management and Surgery

Moderator: G. Ellenbogen

Faculty: Dan S. Heffez, H. Milhorat, W. Carmel, J. Rosner,

Jon D. Weingart

Learning Objective: The seminar will focus on the controversies surrounding the

use of posterior fossa decompression in patients with a Chiari I malformation,

chronic fatigue and cervical stenosis. Participants will be able to define the

specific disease entities and discuss the various treatment options and

scientific evidence supporting each option.

The Congress of Neurological Surgeons would like to announce its 51st " Annual

Meeting, to be held September 29 through October 4, 2001, at the San Diego

Convention Center in San Diego, California. The full spectrum of neurosurgical

topics will be discussed, including topics of vital importance to your

organization. These topics include cerebrovascular disease, brain and spinal

cord tumors, brain and spine trauma, degenerative spine disease, disorders of

the pediatric nervous system, and developmental disorders of the nervous system.

scientist Apuzzo, M.D. The 2 " d Annual Walter Dandy Orator is

distinguished historian and author E. Ambrose, Ph.D. Special lecturers

include Alan Dressler, Ph.D " Francis H. C. Crick, Ph.D., Walter Murch, Sir

, Rear Admiral Albert H. Konetzni, Jr., Randii Wessen, M. Gazi

Yasargil, M.D., Mark Tuszynski, M.D., Ph.D., B. , M.D.,

Watkins, M.D., and Steve Young.

As a service to the public, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons would like to

extend an invitation to interested members of your organization to attend the

Special Lecture on Thursday, October 4~ at 8:15 a.m.at the San Diego Convention

Center, Steve Young, widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes in

thehistory of the National Football League, will speak on the topic of " The

Player's Perspective " . Anyone who is interested in attending should contact the

Congress of Neurological Surgeons office to obtain a ticket.

In addition, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons welcomes your members to

check the Congress of Neurological Surgeons web site,

developments in the treatment of neurologic disease. Within several weeks after

the annual meeting, many of the presentations from the Annual Meeting will be
