Guest guest
Hi Amy! Welcome! I'm just starting to post too! I get occassional problems with dizziness and my extremeties seem to fall asleep rather easily. The real question that caught my eye was your worsening migraines. Are you positive that they are migraines? I was diagnosed for years with having migraines and they were actually Cluster Headaches. Cluster headaches generally sit in the back of your head and then you get a sudden spike of pain around one eye. They're much worse than migraines but can be cured with Oxygen Therapy. It is nonnarcotic so your doctor should appreciate it and it DOES work. I'm on Medicare since I'm on SSDI so I don't pay anything for the oxygen tanks or masks or anything. In fact, you can get a lifetime prescription, which is what I did, and if the headache comes back you will already have that on file. If you are able to break the cycle (mine have lasted for 8 months at a time prior to using oxygen) they don't seem to come back. (Again knocking on wood.) You'll need initially a K-cylinder tank, at least 50' of hose, be able to titrate up to 10 (some only go to 8 especially on the portable tanks), a non-rebreather mask, about 6 portable tanks and the cart/dolly things to move the tank. You need to have it available so that you can catch the headache when it first starts and make sure to take deep breaths and fully expell. I use: Inhale to the count of 6 and Exhale to the count of 4. http://health.yahoo.com/ency/healthwise/hw185566 http://www.headaches.org/consumer/topicsheets/oxygen.html http://www.aurorahealthcare.org/yourhealth/healthgate/getcontent.asp? URLhealthgate=%2211954.html%22 http://remedyfind.com/rem.asp?ID=15917 I hope this helps! I can post more research if you want but this will definately get you started. Guest guest
Hi I have migraines often Dizziness I go through in spells...I call them swirls because when they hit my world takes a swift swirl and I cant even tell for a few seconds what is up or down. I also loose my breath when it gets bad. Internist thought it was my heart but after tons of test they haven't found anything yet, just a fast heart rate and low blood pressure. Take care um_naseem wrote: I've been on this group for a while now but don't think I've ever posted anything to it. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 3 years ago after falling and breaking my hand while walking across a parking lot. After I fell I had dizzy spells that were so bad that for 5 months I was unable to walk across a room unaided and became very dependent on my husband and parents to drive me to appointments, etc. I still have some problems with dizziness but it's not even close to as bad as it was at that time. I saw an ENT for it and was diagnosed with vestibular neuritis and given meclizine for the dizziness. I also have problems with my arms going numb or causing me severe pain from shoulders to my hands, especially at night, and was told I have cubital tunnel in both arms & at some point may have to have surgery to correct it. I was wondering if anyone else on here has the problems I've had w/the dizziness and numbness? What about migraines? Those seem to have gotten much worse for me this last year?Amy Enrich your life at Yahoo! Canada Finance
Guest guest
Hi Beth, Thanks for the welcome. =0) Nope, definitely migraines. I had them as a teenager and they went away for a long time. I've had the cluster headaches before but don't get those anymore. Now I'm back to migraines complete with the light & sound sensitivity & vomiting. I was taking topamax for them but it seemed to make them better & then worse again. I have a friend that's an internist and she told me today after talking to a neurologist about me that the reason is I was taking it without increasing my magnesium. So I'm going to try going back on it but this time with a multivitamin, magnesium and Vitamin B2. The neurologist she talked to specializes in migraines so it's worth a shot.
