Guest guest
Dear Debra, You were asleep but you didn't reach a restoritive sleep level. We lovely people with fibro have difficulty getting restoritive sleep which is part of the reason we have pain, fatigue, fibrofog, mucles that are fatiged and pained from exercise, and a body that doesn't use vitamine, antioxidents, hormones, etc the way " normal " people's bodies do. Many people find assistance using a cpap or bipap machine. A sleep study needs to happen to get a Rx for one. My psychiatrist gave me trazadone to take at night for sleep. When I take it it seems to help. I also have sleeping pills. The ambiam cr gives me a hangover but the sanota works better for me. The sanota only works for abot4hrs. Although I need more sleep I find if I use my cpap or medication that has me sleep more than 4hrs then my fibro hurts so bad because I don't move enough. Then I am groggy from excessive pain meds and can barely move frome pain. I guess I cannot win. Judy ---- debra van ness wrote: > Rest Rest and more rest. I know I am fatigued about 90% of the time. And isnt it strange, that you and me both get relief from the fatigue with a narcotic. It seems it would make us more tired. But is does not. The Vicodin not only helps the pain, but it actually takes the horrible fatigue away for a few hours. I really don't understand that. Alot of people say a narcotic pain med puts them to sleep and makes them tired. It affects me the opposite way. I wonder why???????? > I try to nap in the afternoon on my days off and that does help even the next day if I have to work. Strange thing is, when I nap I really feel like a stay in some state between sleep and awake. I just don't feel I ever got fully asleep. My family wil tell me I was snoring, so I will think, ok, I must have slept. > Debra Van Ness > > drednalie wrote: > i have found with noni and now new bed - i am not haveing as > much " pain " that requires medicating. > but i am still haveing fatigue. > i do stretches in the morning in the hot tub. > by afternoon - i am ready for bed. but understand that may not be the > wisest thing to do - takes away from nighttime sleep. > i know if i take a narcotic - the fatigue goes away in about one hour. > is there something else i could try - other then going to bed? > thanks for the suggestions > dawn > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > Be a better Heartthrob. Guest guest
A few people in my other fibro related group said they take Co Q 10 to help fight fatigue. Haven't researched that med to find out if it's true though. It can be found at Walmart and Sam's Club. Other places might have it, too. Guest guest
Perhaps it is due to the more pain we are in, the more fatigued we are. When our pain is relieved, less or no fatigue. Maybe????? Margaret B > Rest Rest and more rest. I know I am fatigued about 90% of the > time. And isnt it strange, that you and me both get relief from > the fatigue with a narcotic. Guest guest
I once asked my doctor the exact same questions, and presented this same theory and she said that was it exactly. She said that for people with chronic pain, one of the reasons we are so tired is that our bodies are using all available resources to combat the pain.... relieve the pain and we get some of our resources back. Re: suggestions for fatique? Perhaps it is due to the more pain we are in, the more fatigued we are. When our pain is relieved, less or no fatigue. Maybe????? Guest guest
By the way.... my doctor had also said that is one of the very guidelines that a (knowledgable) doctor will use to determine if someone is truly in pain or just a drug seeker.... that someone truly in chronic pain will have an improvement in life quality and function better ON the pain meds than off... which yes, is opposite from others who take pain meds and seemed drugged... people with CHRONIC SEVERE pain will not only, not seem " drugged " but will generally be more awake, alert and functioning with the narcotics. We ended up having this conversation because that is what happened to me, whenever I was not on meds, people thought I was heavily drugged and would make comments about it because I was out of it and dingy and acted drunk, but that was just what the Fibro was doing to me... it is actually when I am ON the narcotic pain meds that I appear and seem normal. LOL Re: suggestions for fatique? I once asked my doctor the exact same questions, and presented this same theory and she said that was it exactly. Guest guest
I totally agree with that because every time I’m in a lot of pain for a few days (or longer) my weight drops. I’ve been trying to gain about 10 lbs, but even though I eat (a lot and good foods not junk) I drop the weight. My theory has been that my body uses up it’s stores to try and combat my pain… of course and then, like today, I get so fatigued I can’t even see straight. Guest guest
makes sense. I agree with that. pain will wear you out itself. Debra V. Guest guest
I have thought of trying to Co Q 10. I have heard the same thing and find it recommended by several FM treatments including some other supplements.
